Outnumbered and gunned down. Powerplay?
This happens. It sucks, but it happens. It is not about the numbers, not really. Its a matter of communication and teamwork. While the corsair attack the other day that I got caught in was interesting, I was left alone against their entire fleet MORE THAN ONCE. Is that a good way to keep your forces alive? No, so then (luckily) there was an Ion storm that blew my emenies away from me. Yes I too can call upon the Gods for some help at times. I came to in my ship drifting. I then moved on to look for comrades. I found that I was alone and the Corsairs had been blown FAR away. (outta system)
This was not the only time. I was also engaged by numerous Corsairs and saw my ally fall myself. I tried to catch his pod, but alas was CDed. So I fought. I ran, I fought more. I was a lone fighter, ok bomber against an army it seemed. Then one I managed to get his pod tractored and makeit to Gammu in Kappa. Not without a long fight to leave ahaead of me, I knew.

[i] now I'm gonna break and go OOC for a min with a few questions.
If I am alone and I have MANY ships coming after me and I engage Cruise to try to flee, and not just shield run. Got CD'ed all over. But I kept trying to fight and run as well. I was all for the chase, I wanted a supernova. Got it too. but I don't know why if I am a lone fighter and I run from 5+ vessels of multiple groups and sizes, I am dead? This is stupid. I would not fight 5+_ alone and die for nothing. It was just wrong. Tho I did ask for 1 on 1 and was offerd till that Servantes guy came and shot me in the back. A Zoner running as a Corsair. Anyway, I am getting off pont. Would in that case I be dead? I stopped tryin to fight them one on one because th guy Servantes with them wouldn't respect it. Tho others did. They have my respect, Servantes, watch your back.
A lone fighter, after others dead or alone all along. Going for equipment out of his systems, get intercepted. Not there for a battle but gerar. So you go for gear. Is this a death? I say no, but I need some clarification.
Rules state: Once cruise engaged you are dead. - This is rediculous. Even the NPC's go away and if you keep their allies alive ong enough return to the fight. So why can I not do the same? I know for big battles its one thing, but in these cases its different. You chase my bomber with a couple GB, Destroyer or two, and a few fighters, maybe bomber in there can't remember and tell me I'm dead while I fly away, I say I'm dead and moving, thats fine for me. Lets not be Rule Nazi here, but really is that gonna be up the the individuals involved and such? Or do I really have to watch for this crap? I would fight and die, if given the respect deserved in the situation to fight with honor against an honorable enemy. Servantes didn't allow that. Should there not be a rule for this if you make them for everything else? Or do we really get to have some limit to control the rules for these types of situations? I wanted to fight, but not just die needlessly. I have some selfrespect, sorry.

So I get shot in the back as I am dueling one person. I see this and retreat. They shoot after me, and even their allies in the next system try to hail me. I even was asked for a tax. I said I was not interested in anything else from the group or thier friends till they learned some manners and respect. Shot in the back in a duel? Now how low can you get a guy? Servantes, mark my words....Your days are numbered. My hats off to the Benitez group for both honor and courage. The actions of your men in this encounter are more to my ability to respect. I look forward to the day we meet again and you suck up my Supernova and meet your maker. Until then, I thank you and yours for light show during the escort thru Gamma.
if u try to run and u get Cd-ed your escape attempt didn't succeed thus you are free to turn back and fight the enemies. I don't see that as re engagement.
Also..that rule is tricky one...if u hit cruise and manage to escape out of range of CD then you are not dead...but you are out of the fight and u cant go back. However if you get chased by the enemies that rule does not apply.
as for fighting against odds...i can relate to that...welcome to the club
I have a character thats an enemy of the RM, so I'm sure you know (as you are one..) that I go through long odds as well.. Generally alone.. Difference is, RM does lord it over and threatens me because I ran.. I've found alot of Corsairs do this when people run. They aren't content with just winning the fight, but they have to let the other know they'll go to the admins if you fight them in any way afterwards.. All of which is utter bullocks. This is why I prefer dealing with Outcasts. Both our faction and independents are generally polite, while most of the Corsair independents fall in the category of Discovery's least mature group..
Basically, since they chased you, you were just fine for fighting them again. Especially when you got CDd, fighting back then was nothing but self-defense which is ALWAYS allowed. Basically, ignore their crap and do what you think is right and allowed. If they try to report you, admins won't do anything unless you actually did break a rule.
Aye, to all of the above....odds have always been slightly uneven since my introduction to Disco:)But, I am speaking to the choir here, hehehe. Just let it be water off a duck's back. Your member number suggest you have seen much. So, just kick the cat and have fun once your blood pressure returns to normal, if possible
Ahh well. Try to take it in your stride and rise above it mate. There are always going to be incidents where you are outnumbered ridiculously, hell i even felt sorry for panzer today as he got mugged by 5 RoS ships including me, but hey thats what you get for attacking a trader shipping cardi in alpha.
