It was a Xenos armored transport, full black widows and a CAUVIII and man it was scary. I have been aware of the ability to turret steer for a while, in fact I set up my hotkeys for it three or four days ago but I have yet to actually use it or fight someone who knew what they were doing and man it is brutal stuff XD I think people really need to factor this ability in when they talk about balance from now on because this is a pretty big game changer I think.
I can't wait to see what gunboats can do with it against fighters... also cruiser fights will be alot more entertaining now (recently repositioned my cruiser guns for this exact reason). I am rather eager to try it out on my freighters and my cruiser... also it makes me want to invest in a gunboat again (I have not flown many since .84 with my double cerb, quad dragonfly hacker ship)... maybe a corsair one with full guns, that ought to be interesting.
I took on 3 bombers and 4 fighters at once. Never lowered my shields.
^This particular situation the combatants weren't the most skilled. Against skilled snubs 4 to 1 is a good fight still.
What you need when a skilled Gunboat pilot shows up is another Gunboat or bigger vessel. Or totally gank it with snubs.
If you`re fighting a GB with Fighters only you`ll have a hard time against a full prim turret steered boat. However 2 skilled bombers will be able to take you down, especially big Gunboats as the Imperator as they`re easier to hit. Though they sure will leave the battle beaten up heavily.

I recently fought an Asco or somethin' (brigands gunboat) in my challenger, and landing a SNAC on that thing was utter pain in the rear, and requiring 3 consecutive SNACS to actually damage hull... that was brutal, also, EMP cannons despite their infocard were the worst idea at a time.
The guy was simply flying circles shooting me 24/7, and if I tried to align to a shot he simply turned his tail to me and started standard shieldrun maneuver, all while still shooting the hell outta me. I managed to hit his hull twice in 30 minute fight... And i had to shieldrun a lot if I wanted to stay alive.
Also his aim was average at best, if there was someone who would be able to actually shoot he'd take 3 bombers without a sweat. In the end a Roc and Eagle stranded by and after cheapSNACcing a roc I had to bail.
Nah, 2 bombers won't touch me. I think I can take on 4 if they're not some sort of uber pro. Takes practice though, gotta know what you ship is doing while not actually being able to see it very well.
Wait, two bombers have to be skilled to fight a single gunboat? I can kill Cruisers with two bombers. Thought you might be able to solo a gunboat, though that situation has never come up. According to shield regen stats, it should be possible.
Also... I don't know how to turret steer in the slightest. Not even the keys. Someone tell me how pls.

HAHAHAHA, gimme a Light Cruiser and I'll take on 6 bombers.
And for your GB steering pleasure, here's a lil tut I just PM'd to a guy who asked for help:
Quote:Set your steering keys to JKLI (just like ASDW for strafing)
Set "Thrust On" to ;
Set "Thrust" secondary to ' (so you can tap it to turn off "Thrust on")
Set "Reverse Thrust" to ,
Go into turret view, hold down "Ctrl" and scroll back (this will zoom your camera out).
Turn your thrust permanently on (by pressing;)
Practice dolphin and other maneuvers while in turret view (watch this)
Practice it zoomed out, and use chainfire.

A thing to remember is most cap pilots just suck hard, that is why 2 bombers are seen killing lone battleships and cruisers. Try fighting say Charos in a BS, take 6 bombers at least and pray you have luck.
