[font=Comic Sans Ms]Answering the OP's question as....actually, it doesn't matter who I am or what I do. The plain and simple, honest answer as to why furry characters exist is that the players who play said chars want them to exist. Playing as a furry makes them happier. Satisfied.
This is the same reason as to say, why people play LNS chars, Corsairs, Gallics, Hogosha, Xenos, Zoners. Anything. Playing a character, whatever they chose it to be, satisfies the player.

That said, if you're playing a furry, I personally believe you're RPing allright, but in the wrong background setting. There's plenty of room for werewolves, werebears, werecats, wolfweres, Rakshasha, polymorphs, and sentient slime in the Forgotten Realms DND setting. Among others.
