Kallisti, Sir,
My apologies for the delay. It's an honor to hear from you.
You seek an Aquilon Carrier. Well, I hardly know you beyond what you've told me and the Aquilon isn't a small piece of hardware. While it is a good research platform, to some, it is seen as a weapon of war so you can imagine my reluctance to just "hand one over."
So you have retired from the Colonials. I'm guessing you are taking on the Zoner way. Do you know what that way is, Sir? Believe you me, there are many days I'd rather go back to my old ways and deal with some of those I have to be dictated to in a chamber in ways I once did but, I don't. I rise above that. For it, I live in relative peace and have earned the respect of many.
To help me in my decision, what do you intend to use this ship for? Mind you that if I approve, it will carry Zoner papers when it leaves it's slip.
Thank you for your time Dr. Holliday. Your reputation precedes you, unlike mine. I hope I can shed some more light on myself, the corporation I am hoping to build, and our intentions. I apologize if I gave the impression that the Aquilon Carrier is a simple commodity that can be bought and sold just like that. I know Zoners take pride in your ships, and so you should. I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag. Years of military service can sometimes bring with it a form of curtness. One of the many habits I am working on leaving behind while adopting to life in the civilian sector.
I am retired from the Colonial Military, yes, but I still hold Colonial Republic papers. That means that I and my crew operate independently of the military command, and we do not use Colonial Military transponders on any of our ships. I made enquiries at Sabah Shipyard, and they believe that they, due to the similarities between the Aquilon and our retired Zephyr Class carrier, can maintain the ship functional at a 90% level. In short, yes, I am asking for permission to maintain and operate a Zoner Carrier registered to the Colonial Republic...
I understand that you are concerned about the use of your technology, and how it can affect your diplomatic standings around Sirius, and let me assure you our interests are entirely civilian. As you know Sabah Shipyards produce our own Kronos Class battleship, far exceeding the Aquilon from a pure combat perspective. My interest in the Aquilon lies solely in its ability to mount a hyperspace scanner and have enough fuel to do the job and bring the crew back home safely.
Our plan is to start out small, mapping hyperspace coordinates outside of house space and away from any sensitive installations. In time we hope to gain access to house space and perform scans to the benefit of house militaries and traders as jump drives get more common. We know this will require a lot of patience and luck, but we prefer to be in accordance with local laws. The entire future of the Colonial Republic depends on strong diplomatic relations with our neighbours, and on a strong economy. We hope our corporation can be a positive force in both aspects.
Due to our corporation's Colonial origin, the Outcasts and the GRN sees us as enemies. Nothing we can do to change that, but to stay clear of the Outcasts. As for the Gallics, I believe you are on the same course as the Colonial Republic and your other new neighbours, our friends in The Council. We will defend our allied systems from Royalist invasion.
I am aware that allowing technology, especially something of this magnitude, outside of your ranks is something you rarely do, but I am hoping you can somehow make an exception. If there is anything I can provide, any assurances I can give, please don't hesitate to let me know.

My concern is two fold right now. You say you wish to operate as a civilian entity...which is fine however you wish to operate with Colonial paperwork.
That would still put you at odds with the Outcasts and as they are neighbors of ours, this would no doubt put a lot of strain on us. It's at times a tense relationship and while I allow them free passage through Baffin without interruption and no questions, they will press me over such a grant of technology. If you wish to operate as a civilian then perhaps you should consider Zoner paperwork, especially when any fighting would be done defensively, hm?
Also, you seek to gain jump co-ordinates into house space. The houses get very upset with foreign capital ships in their space and it's well known that the Aquilon is sold exclusively in Baffin. TAZ has been held accountable for the actions of even independent Zoners in the past.
I'm also not afraid to say that I disapprove of jump drives since I've seen people using them for ill intentions and in one case, someone whom I disapprove of even more "hitching" a ride with a Zoner ship to a Zoner installation.
Mr. Clarke, this is indeed a tough decision to make, one that I will speak with my people on.
Doctor Holiday, I understand your concerns. I must admit, I know have a lot to contemplate. Maybe a life as a Zoner would suit me. Please ignore my request for now, and allow me to get back to you another time
Warmest regards,
Samson Clarke
//found out that while the colonial republic ID allow battleships, it only allow colonial ships specifically. i wasnt aware of that detail. sorry for wasting your time.
