Not too much, just unintended consequences I think. Not many people mining in Humboldt now, this just means fewer there over time, and more in omega7 where the base is 30 seconds away. Is that too much? Wrong question
Then the main problem is that some non player bases are maybe too close to the mining fields and not the F1 re-enter distance.
If we talk about the distance I think a 80k re-entry point would be awesome. Bad for the unwanted disconnects though. So 50 k is ok because you have enough time to re enter a fight after a disconnect and 5 or 6 minutes are a little and for sure reasonable penalty for intentional hitting the F1 button.
I like it, the only downside for me is when I f1 my pirates at a choice mining spot and switch to another character to watch for my trap to be sprung, now I have to actually fly there instead of instantly popping up next to them with weapons charged.
Oh well I can live with that, 40k as a max might make sense to me, but I am just as happy with how it is now.

The Humboldt fields have a higher yield then the O7 ones. The drawback is that you don't have a friendly base nearby. Risk/reward kind of thing. I'm surprised noone has set up a playerbase out there - it's remote enough that people won't quickly find a base (so you can establish it with shielding before folk take note) and there's not many other miners out there.
As for reducing drift, I feel it's fine as is. The idea about drift is to prevent people from logging in on a cloaked-out character that's near a chokepoint (a lame tactic that some groups were abusing quite frequently prior to drift being included). For that measure to be effective, people NEED to be some 5 minutes away from their previous position, so that if folk hop onto a cloaked out character, they do not get the initiative due to game mechanics abuse.

That's a valid balance by itself. Adding 50k drift on top is what breaks it. Only takes a couple of times drifting into the sun and you learn, okay not supposed to logout here, nowhere to logout here, moving to another location. Most people think of this as necessary grinding and look for path of least resistance, if you hit them with a stick they will respond to it. Either cut the distance or provide a place to logout that is within reach, or let the fields go.
If you don't like it don't F1 in space. Dev's shouldn't change something because you're too lazy to find the nearest base.
Otherwise just find another system to mine in.
