Couple of times lately I've logged a mining ship and its 50k away from last location. I can understand why ship drift some, but anything over 30k is just punitive. Some mining areas dont have nearby bases where you can logout, so F1 in space is the only way out. Humboldt, Sigma-19 Kusari fields (corner of A1), Nagano platinum field (50k from nearest base), Leeds niobium field for IMG (cannot log on Stokes), etc.
Two possibilities, one is cap the distance as before, another is cap the rate of drift so that its not as far so soon.
Right now its just plain annoying to mine some of these fields.

Thanks
Aha. So 5 or 6 minutes to fly back to the Mining field is too much?

Too much? I am certainly more likely to mine another field where the base is only 1-2 minutes away. Why mine in S19 when the base in Okinawa is so much closer to the field? Not too much, just unintended consequences I think. Not many people mining in Humboldt now, this just means fewer there over time, and more in omega7 where the base is 30 seconds away. Is that too much? Yes I think so, if we dont want those fields to be mined just turn them off
it used to drift 30k, that was fine, then it was 40k which was pushing it but tolerable, now its +50k which is just irritable... you can login with your ship in the middle of a sun now
