I try to RP with other traders. Some days if I'm bored and don't mind getting pirated I go through sig-13. If I don't, i go around. But I give an ooRP "bonus" for good chases and good RP. Should that be banned too?
That may have been me, although i do not usually hang outside the planet. But I do recognize the "it gets cheaper if you cooperate" part of it. Never the less, are we all supposed to know that you just broke level 30? And if the taxed amount was a problem, then I guess I would have had to use the ooRP way of taxing, which is monitoring the traders level, which is the thing that started this discussion. Hunting and taxing is my job, and I'm good at it, I enjoy a good chase too. Sorry for the inconvenience I suppose. Its how the game is played. And if your not prepared for the unexpected, or to get taxed all together, I suggest you find a different way to make credits.
Cheers
No, it wasn't you. And I'm not saying he should have been following the level. Quite the opposite, really. I only intended to suggest that he may have been doing just that, which led to him initiating the attack. The main thing that bothered me was that he was attacking a Humpback in a Gunboat, and didn't even give me a chance to respond to his demand for money.
Personally--and this is part of the ideas I mentioned in my last post--I'm of the opinion that gunboats shouldn't be used to pirate anything other than transports. Transports have a better chance against them, simply because of their superior defensive abilities. Freighters have slim to no chance against them, because they have no real way of avoiding all those guns that will wipe out their hull in a few hits. There's no real sport in it, and it tends to leave the poor freighter pilot frustrated.
Today I saw a UoG member in Cambridge. I went to intercept but never found him. I said come and fight me UoG scum. He never did. Then later in system chat he says.
It would make no sense if a pirate demanded a same or lower amount of fee compared to your goods' cost. A reasonable higher demand is the key factor that makes the shipper run for the safety of his life and to secure the delivery of course. Bargaining makes sense as far as kept in roleplay, while bemoaning about a person's level as indicated in the case is nonsense.
Traders of Sirius, I have caught allot of Scrambled communications on my net regarding Pirating and Tax payments. Sirius is a dangerous system, and pirates are everywhere. That is why The Brotherhood protects the traders in our system. If you want safe trading, use the Corsair Systems and look for the The brotherhood ships. We will demand a safe passage fee, but according to what your hauling. Its better encountering us, then any other.
I patrol the Gamma,Theta, Sigma 19 and 13 systems. If you are looking for safe passage, look for my Titan. You will be escorted with the Brotherhoods protection. Just don't bring passengers to our planets.
what?
the corsairs has gone civilised now? -_-
It doesn't match the info planet crete description gives, you know?
what I'd like to be change, pirate side:
Stop saying the usual 2m or die and if the guy refuse you just blow him up with nothing more said - except if it's blatant that guy is running.
trader side:
for the richer of you guys: giving out money without even saying anything is FUNNY. But not realist. You would try to defend yourself irl if someone came taxing at you, right?
for the poorer... if it's obvious you can't escape... Don't?
technically, a pirate wouldnt want to destroy it's prey. He WANTS to keep him alive so that he can get more money from one same guy.
A trader wouldn't try to run while knowing obviously he will destroy you - or just sit there and wait it destroys you. Nor would he usually hand out his cash without some grumble first.
I was traveling on a trade route, in my Advance train, hauling the typical cargo of Ni from Kyushu to New Berlin.
When a pirate jumps out and wants a donation.....Nothing too new here.
He wants 2M or so.
I just paided another guy off in another system,.....so I try to bargin him down a bit in price.
""Well, your Level 80 and your rich.....stop whining about it ''
Whoa there.......Level 80?
First, that is OOC knowledge being used in RP.
Levels are done by what kind of ship you have, amount of money you have and some other game things.
In my personal option, Levels of players should not be used (with the excepting of the level 30 and below- attacking rule) in Role play.
As for being rich........I don't know too much about real truck drivers. To me, there seems to be 2 kinds : Worker and Owner-Operators
A worker works for a big company.....Like UPS. USP owns the truck the driver drives, pays him a salary/paycheck, provides fuel for the truck, provides repairs for the truck.
A Owner-Operator owns his own truck and pays for everything...the fuel, insurance, repairs.
If there is any money left over...thats his 'paycheck. Most owner-operators are barely getting by and making end meet.
.....I don't have money to burn.......If i am paying every pirate , in each and every Jump Hole 2M each.....then it's simple math....my Cargo costs about 800k.....sells for 7M or so....
More than 5 greedy pirates per run....I just lost money and then it just cheaper to get blown up, and pay 800k for new cargo.....which I would think, will just make cruddy Role Play in the end.
Maybe it has already been said but, if you don't want pirates to bother you, hire an escort.
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
