Forget missiles. Don't chase the cruiser, reverse thrust when possible. When the cruiser attempts to get close enough to shoot at you, full impulse ahead and close the distance.
If your in a BS try having a fighter that has a CD (so the cruiser cant flee) and if he use thruster to speed away just mortar him. That way you can win except if hes in a Thresher that know TS.

Well no. Almost every cruiser can dodge a BS Mortar. And use use at least 1 or 2 Missiles vs a cruiser. But I prefer to use a Cruiser over a Battleship. Although there is 1 BS I absolutly will always like, the Jormungand. But ya, use 2 missiles, you should be fine.

Well chase after them if they are stupid. If they run then quit chasing them because you wont catch them and they have an advantage over you from being far away.

Truth to be told, a skilled small/medium/veryheavycruiserwithtinyprofilelikeRNCandbertoniandestroyer will win you in 95% of the cases against any battleship.
