David.Leroy: We've taken steps to mitigate the harm a DDOS can do. If folk lose connection now after a lagspike, simply restart Freelancer and reconnect.
Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.

What I wanted to say is something like this: guys (and girls) be glad that the server is back and becoming more stable as more time passes! That no bases are lost and erverything.
Some credits can be remade. Losing ships, which cost a lot of work because of reputation requirements, is worse. But you, who have lost something like that, haven't payed attention to what is the server about. Instead of beeing unhappy or angry, just take the chance to have the fun setting your character up a 2nd time.
And thanks to the admins for their work on the server that we can play again!
To the stars!
Pavel prompted:We are the money making company! And Hartmann added later while discussing that with me:The DHC way to solve problems? - Throw mony at it, until it diiieees!
~ because you can't spell SLAUGHTER without LAUGHTER ~
more people lost their values then the supposed "base owners", rollback caused more damage to more people then a few base owners, and jammi this post was not highlighted until the rollback happend.
anyway, I haven't lost anything but people shouldn't be placed in this situation and perhaps you can develop a way to merge exsisting user databases with the earlier ones.
And tell that hosting company that they blow, d-dos filters exist for like 6 years now.
This is just my own personal advise to new and possibly old players alike.... but.... when Uncle DDOS comes a knocking, go play something else until he gets bored and leaves the front porch. To all the players out there that are complaining about having lost stuff, this is a game, you can simply get it back. It's not as if the admins went and deleted a weeks worth of forum posts because THAT would be hard to replace.... your ships and credits and rep can be replaced through a simple bit of hard work, while your chars RP and other posts would take a LOT more and most likely still not be right.
At least the Admins did not get upset and say "FRAK IT" and stop paying for the server and forums due to being upset. They stuck through the pain and aggravation of fixing the issue, thus allowing us players to continue playing this mostly FREE GAME.
NOW.... IF you wish to keep complaining about DDOS attacks and crappy connections and what not, why not decide to NOT spend your next bit of allowance on that game you just HAVE to have that you will probably only play for a month and get bored with it (As I have done so many times) and decide to donate to the server / forum fund to hopefully allow the Admins to pay for better server protection? I am already working on re budgeting my account JUST so that I can donate 20 USD to the server once I get my next check.
Stop griping about the crappy quality of a free game and try doing something about it.
To the Admins out there that have brought us such a great game and community, I thank you.
When admins dont fix things, people get upset.
When admins do fix things, people think they did wrong.
I for one am not with this people.
I want to thank you admins for all the hard work you put into keeping this server working like it should. *bows*
for all the people who lost cash: Cash can be refunded within a few hours, if your willing to take the time for it. if not, then bad luck, but dont bother others with it. There are still people who enjoy this game, eventho they lost a hundred mills. So what? Money isnt everything. You dont need money to have fun, am i right or not??
So please people, stop complaining about a few lost credits, and start playing the game and have some fun.
FUN IS WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE!
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
