Why does it have to be balanced?

Real life is not balanced so why do we expect Disco to be?

Most (but not all!) of the "balancing" outlined above/earlier tends to relate to combat when all is said and done. If you want to balance combat just give everyone the same ships/weapons etc even if you call them something different from one faction to another, give them different models and visual effects in game.

Yep i know that is controversial but any other form of "balance" will upset someone somewhere - this is Disco after all.

so far - i find it fairly interesting. .. not only are there very different ideas of what the balance "should" be - but it also seems that balance in its very essence is not really what ppl want.

it may explain why balance can never be done "right" though.

i am a bit surprised how many ppl would like to base it on the lore. it is possibly the toughest enviroment of all - with factions claiming full superiority over others. - it would also make player-driven lore much more significant ... affecting factions that rewrote their lore from vanilla or invented their lore entirely.

Like now it is any different? I do not see better VHF for freelancing than Sabre, even with 4.86 nerf. Most people still fly Sabres as I see around.

I would submit that this would be a positive result. If player-driven lore (or lack thereof) had implications for in-game balance, perhaps it would carry more weight with the community at large.
