As I have owned myself Freelancer server (not any mods, just tested having a server on lanparty with friends) and I did manage to check some files as you can make checks if person has some "ID" in his inventory to make it possible to mount specific weapons.
Example, if you have Police ID, you can't buy Liberty Rogue bomber. And if you unmount that ID and try to buy Liberty Rogue ID while having a Police ship, then it could say a warning or just not letting you to buy the ID. Same with mounted weapons, if you unmount an ID, then it could unmount the weapons aswell. Same with selling it.
Scorn, you did have a good point in your first post, but I had no idea what you were talking about in your 2nd one. My argument is perfectly RP logical. My emotional aspect comes from the fact that people constantly go OORP by mounting nomad guns.
True, some people like RPing as heros and such, but that really isn't Freelancer. We aren't trying to make this a videogame were there are "Bosses" and they have special guns that make them uber. Even then, those "Bosses" are going to mount Codenames, not Nomad guns, unless they are specifically aligned with the nomads(Which no one should be at the moment).
Many of the people here are simply trying to RP as more or less normal people trying to do their jobs.
Do I have a villan char that is out of the ordinary? Sure. He will mount two Prometheus Codies.
The topic of the thread was Nomad guns, lets stick to that mates.
Edit:
I would rather stick with a nail gun if it fitted my RP.

This is just the kind of thread that makes my blood boil. As far as the original topic, I could care less if the LSF uses Nomad tech. it stands to reason with the contact in Alaska that the LSF will destroy a few nomad ships salvage some parts and yes.....end up eventually with some weopons. And after getting there hands on some will use on there former owners or who-ever happens to be on there bad side.
Now what really gets my underwear in a bunch, is the people who are so incredibley strict with the weopons and ships. According to some right now I am OORP with my current ship on my Rogue char which now happens to be a Outcast cruiser. The Rogues having access to Outcast cruisers in on the info-card, who's to say I am not the owner of one of the few now not in Alpha. I rotate my ships every few weeks to keep things from getting ho-hum. Oh and yes when I had fighters I had Krackens (ooooohhh!!!) along with the Rogue lasers.
If an admin tells me I am OORP I will gladly sell it, but I will not bow-down to self appointed RP police. If my Rogue was flying a Corsair or some other ship that is hostile to the Rogues np sanction away I deserve it. People need to remember this is a game and meant to be fun, dont get so strict and rigid. Another idea is for the constant threads that are popping up with complaints is to start a new catagory "Whine & Cheese". The whine goes to the first poster and the cheese is the following replies. I did not mention any names is this post and not meant to flame any individuals. This is from a frustrated forum readers point of view, who's tired of all recent complaint threads, almost tired of reading the forums.
Personaly, I think the community wants more RP.
Then again, I wouldn't consider someone on the other side to be a member of the community.
Disco is a stage, not an arena. You shouldn't be trying to win, you should be trying to tell a story.
Nomad guns, they enhance the arena, but not the stage.

What we want really is a little more thought to the roleplay, not what happens when you pull the trigger ...
Just because any of the equipment is there and available, doesn't mean you have to use it.
Thats called common sense, and should be part of your armoury, not what ever weapon is considered to
be the best in its class ...
Hoodlum
Some say he is a proud member of: "The most paranoid group of people in the Community."
I always thought that Nomad Blasters and Cannons were made by analyzing nomad weaponry, and creating a artificial copy of it, that is compatible with Human armaments, like ships, etc. But if raw Nomads have them, then nevermind...
While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack http://pastebin.com/SYQXBufs

In some circles yes it is an arena but that is not my forte, but trade, supply & demand is RP, purposelly ignoring superior fire power just because your with a different gang is not RP. American Indians were useing Bows and arrows when the pilgrams arrived, but went to guns as soon as they were able, they didnt turn down the muscket cuz it was bad RP. This is nor D&D and we are not mages who cant pick up swords, or in this case we are not mystically forbidden from picking up a better hammer, shovel, ship, or gun, so itn't RP no to its short sighted. As for PVP I personally hardly engage in it and it helps my personal story more when I'm killed. That being said if someone attacks me I'm not going to insult them by wearing kiddy gloves, please don't do the kiddy gloves for me.
To remove them is to alter the game so the arena is a fair level field, since RP is to mimic human
interaction within the confines of a fictional realm then we should point out that life is not fair. Nomads had the guns they have and exsist in the quanities they do. What do we as players do to adapt to the nomads and those who use them. I as the Order will keep selling them to fund my war with Liberty.
Nomad guns are a plot device and now a commodity the Order has to trade. The arena is more an aspect
for terrorist, and pirates. Of which I am niether. I simply dont want the veriety to be scaled down. Beside some faction are already enacting in game laws which is awesome. inconvienient to me but cool and logical.
