Doc was a bit annoyed and let King know about it.
"Might I suggest you keep your political differences out of this facility, Mr. King," he said to him after watching Doreen leave. "A Rheinlander by birth yes but she owes no loyalty to them since they exiled her father. She earned the job here that I appointed her for so if you have a problem with the staff that I appoint then take it up with me, not her."
He sighed, "Besides, I have both Rheinland and Liberty doctors here and on my Med Force ships that work together and forget the war that destroys there homelands. Anyway..."
"As to Mr. White," he continued, "we already agree, neither of us condone his past or how he went about escaping it. He did do the time given to him by a court of law. I do find it hard to believe that he would shoot his own arm off to escape, especially when untreated he won't live long."
Doc thought a moment, "How about this. I take him as my parolee. I'll pay whatever fines he may have incurred to include retribution those hurt. If he violates whatever conditions he has already in place.." He then turns to White, "plus the ones I will impose on him..." He then turns back to King, "I will personally bring him back to your prison hogtied and give him a bloody eagle myself."
He then let King think a moment before finishing, "You may not have much to worry about. After all, he's going to kill me and my staff....right? He wouldn't last long against the guard staff outside."
Jack wandered through the park for what seemed like hours. The lush greenery calmed him. "I wonder if there is a place like this outside of my dreams... I doubt it.." He sighed and continued walking, wondering what was going on outside of his dream. "I know this is one of her illusions. It is strange. I can feel, smell, and touch, yet none of this is real." To illustrate this he knelt down and picked a flower and brought it to his nose and inhaled the scent. What happened next alarmed him. He started coughing, then wheezing. His heart felt like it was stopping. Jack fell to the ground clutching his chest. He thought he might be having an allergic reaction, while in the real world he was actually having a heart attack.
The machines hooked up to Jack started beeping. "Doctor!" One of the nurses who were watching over him yelled. "He is convulsing! I don't know why but I think he is having a heart attack." Jack lay on the table, convulsions racking through his body. In Eris' dream world he wasn't faring any better. He lay on the ground of the forest, unconscious now, his body slightly seizing.

Doc was as equally confused as he was startled. He was stable, his fluids were up and only a short time before, he was drinking and eating.
"Nurse, get me a crash cart now!" Doc ordered.
"Mr. King, stand back," Doc ordered.
Cardiac arrest wasn't something that should even be considered for this patient. Doc began checking him. While the cart only took less than thirty seconds to arrive, it was an eternity. Jack's heart was defibing for no apparent reason and his breathing became shallow. He wasn't bleeding so it wasn't blood loss.
For a moment, Doc figured that King would be smiling. One less problem for him. He could delay saving him to fool him but that's not the oath he took nor would King leave without confirmation. The crash cart arrived and Doc did the only thing he knew, start saving another life.
"100 now!" he hollered, the nurse charging the unit with the paddles in he air. The charge ready, he placed them on Jack's bare chest and yelled, "Clear."
The jolt of electricity shot through Jack's chest from his upper right chest to the left side of his ribs as it passed through his defibbrilating heart as his body jumped from it. Looking at the EKG, he was still defibbing.
"Nurse, 200." Doc got ready to fire another charge.
Eerily the convulsions stopped just as quickly as they started. Jack woke with a start after the second defib, gasping for air, then noticing that John was standing over him with defibrillators withdrew away from him.
"Wha... wha?! You arent going to kill me with those things are you?" He obviously diddnt know about the mini heart attack at all. Jack was extremely confused, looking back and forth between John and King desperately, almost comically.

Doc was looking at Jack with a horrified look. Realizing he was fine as fast as he was near death, he slowly leaned back to put the paddles on the cart. The nurse just shrugged and shook her head at him, equally confused.
Doc went to the EKG and looked back on it, showing it to the nurse to verify it.
"Defib," she answered.
He looked back to Jack, "you were having a heart attack for no apparent reason. If it's that erratic, I'll be replacing that, too!"
Doc was upset and visibly so. He had no explanation, no reason for it. Taking a seat to collect himself, he muttered under his breath, "Eris help me, that wasn't funny."
Jack was confused. "I keep having these visions. They include this beyond beautiful woman who calls herelf Eris. She was the one who led me to you. When I was unconcious jut now I was having one. I was wandering through a lush garden on a space station. The nebula outside looked like they should be familiar but I have never seen them before. I knelt down and smelled one of the flowers and had what seemed to be an allergic reaction. Maybe it is related to what happened in the real world? I dont know. I have been so confused the past couple of days. Who is this girl and why wont she leave me alone?..." Jack layed back down on the bed and relaxed. "I feel like I am mising something here..."

Doc stood up and sighed. He collected his thoughts for a moment at what he had just heard. It wasn't unbelievable from past experience but he didn't figure he'd sell it to the Agent. Even people of faith found such encounters unbelievable.
"She led you here," he said to Jack, "interesting." He took a few steps in thought.
"Eris does work in strange ways," he commented, "but from past experiences, I believe you."
He turned to the agent, "I don't imagine you will believe it though. If I was in your boots, I would too."
He turned back to Jack, "Awhile back, I was near death, in need of a double lung transplant just to survive. I remember those voices you heard. She told me that I would be saved but at the cost of dedicating my life to saving others, no matter who or what they were. She also said that it would be at a cost. That cost was my chairmanship of the old Council of Zoners, a Council which was destroyed by my successor, Aurelia Silvan, also known later as Aurelia DeFrance. To me, the cost was worth it."
He folded his arms, "Once I was well, I began the creation of Med Force Enterprises, starting with my dream, Med.Force.One hence my mission by Eris.
Malaclypse often spoke of his chats with Eris too. Mr. White, you were sent here for a reason that neither of us know yet."
He turned to the agent, "You won't leave empty handed but you will leave without him. I've told you, I will settle up all fines and fees to secure this man's freedom. Trust me when I say, he will be doing a lot of repentance here."
King stuggled to suppress the laugh inside him. This criminal scum, that sat before him, had been contacted by the divine. Appeared he was dealing with a Looney here then too. Not just any normal day at the office, but King breathed slow, calming himself, keeping his face deadly serious, yet emotionless the whole time. He may not believe in gods and the divine, but Doc sure did. He had earned the respect of many, wouldn't hurt to show a little here.
King listened to Doc, shaking his head to show he had no belief that Jack did really speak with some Divine.
*Sighing*Doc, I'm not after money. If i was, I'd have drained everything linked to this man. Then found a way to collect the rest. No, i am here because this man was released under my watch. All he had to do was sit pretty for a few weeks, work the job we kindly arranged for him, and then he would be free to go as he wished. But he chose to shoot his arm off, and get me chasing him across the stars. Doc, it's not even me you need worry about. It's liberty. I am just your run of the mill Agent, not the one that can say how he is let go. I could assure it with one thing though...
He paused, pondering. As he thought it through, he indicated Doc carry on...

Doc was about to answer Agent King when his emergency pager went off, he excused himself and took it.
"Dr. Holliday, you have a patient seeking your assistance. I think you should check her out as she has advanced Leukemia," said the female voice.
"Will do," Doc answered, "I will tend to her shortly. For now, make her comfortable."
He then returned his attention to King.
"There is little I can say or offer that will satisfy you I'm sure," Doc explained, "I can only assure that under my watch, he won't be returning to that life." He glared at White as he spoke the next line, "Because if he does, I'll shoot him myself."
He then addressed his concern, "What can I do to assure you?"
