Freelancer is an arcade space shooter game, what do you expect?
If RP is just talking you don't need to log on the server, you can do that right here of the forum.
Besides most plots are driven by conflict. That is true for books, cinema, and games too. In fact there are those that would say that civilization in general is fueled by conflict and wars.

Wrong, RP is not just talking, even when it is doing it ingame is very different for many reasons you will understand if you think about it. PvP IS one of them.

Unless its pvp just for the sake of pvp. Conflict must have reason to exist in order to be interesting. It also must have depth to not be boring. "WE R ENEMEES, WE SHOOT EACH OTHA!" gets old very quickly.
