Prior to 4.86 it seems that that SCRA wanted to revise their ships. Returning to the old models would also revive the old problems. The above post was made 2009 before the release of 4.86. After that, the new models were made.
2009 mate. That speaks for itself. It was 4 years back so it cant be excuse for current situation. I dont know about what that thread is, but current pilots and leaders of SCRA prefer 4.85 ships much more. At least those who actually fly *yawns*
Yie Fei's (or whatever) desinged ships are not Coalition but mix of dagger/odin. They ugly. We dont want them.
Its PURE AWESOMENESS!!!! 4.85 designs ftw! The designs now doesn't even look like coalition, seriously. You don't recognize Coalition 8| PLEASE Let us have the old designs back! 8'( <--- How can you withstand this FACE!

Actually...
Alvin submitted the current models and pushed for them to be implemented. SCRA being a closed faction back then, no one really cared.
There was nothing to "fix" about the old hitboxes. They were as good as they could have been for those models. It was the model itself that was broken.
Back then Coalition Q_Qed about their ships being crap due to their box-like shape and massive profile. Nowadays Coalition Q_Q about their "Dagger-copies" and whine about how sexy those old bricks of theirs looked.
I can count the total number of Insurgents I ever saw in use during 4.85 on two hands. Every SCRA member used an Odin, even though InRP the faction had permission for a total of 4 Odins and 2 Lokis.
Current models are redone with a higher quality and already implemented for 4.87. If you have such a major problem with the current line you should've voiced your concern much sooner to save all the workload.
To sum it up, it was SCRA's decision. Go blame Alvin if you want.
Still, nothing's stopping you from gathering a considerable number of dedicated Coalition players and requesting your old ships back. Even if we go with your request and revert back to old models though, you'll just get bored and leave in half a year, and two years down the road there'll be new people in your place, complaining about the "poor decision devs made" rolling back to the broken 4.85 models on community request while there were functional and balancable models in the mod already.

Id like to wait for 4.87 to get first and then making such things. I think its rather silly to make replacement of snubline when new update is on way to be done. At least I hope so. We still not have any date of reliese.
Still that matter will require all HC to vote. I will talk with people on that. Consider this matter closed for now.
I miss the old Coalition snubfighters! Just fix the hitboxes and you're good to go! These ships looked a lot better than the new ones do. Snubs have a certain agility you just don't get from other ships that aren't light fighters. At the very least, make the old Coalition ships purchasable at Corsair/Hessian bases (i.e., some stray Coalition snubs might have strayed into Corsair/Hessian-contested space and gotten captured. These criminal factions aren't stupid. If they can build their own ships, they can reverse-engineer other factions' ships.).
