Capwhoring problem won't be solved by players, those independents who not even take a look here on forums won't change and there still be such a problem until admins will put into this matter some number of clear restrictions in server rules as well as in same game and buying a caps will be somehow restricted.
LH almost in every time we get into a fight we are drowned out by independent Mercs BHs Police and it's just becoming ridiculous. Just imagine the siutation when 3 Lane Hackers in fighters beeing engaged by 4 or 5 capital class ships with assistance of some GBs etc. They just feel immune in their caps so they spoiling whole fun of playing up here.... but not long couse there something must be done.
Know that as the ruling corsair house, the brotherhood will not send Capital ships to Liberty. Unless we are escorting our Elders to that system for diplomatic talks.
These Independant Corsairs are dragging the corsair honor and ways threw the mud and must be stopped. You will clearly see the difference between a TBH Corsair and a indi Corsair when you encounter them in space. One wil fly a cap ship saying "2 mil or die" and the other will be flying a Titan and saying "Trader, cut those engines for a cargo inspection, if you dont, we will be forced to open fire. Thank you Trader. Now, we require a donation of 2 mil for our poeple on Crete, in return, we will provide safe passage"
As for Capships, I have yet to see a TBH in a cap ship. I have seen Gunboats, but that is in our Own System for patrolling against BH Capships invading us.
I do think that the ruling houses must sort out the indies of those factions regarding cap ships, as I think that TBH must sort out our indie corsair and show them the light.
vince on one side you are right, now the corsairs cap whores are the biggest problem, but as i say above, this problem is everywhere. just only take a look how much BH are flying cruisers and bigger. and all independant. the same in liberty, when i am in liberty, only fighters that i meet are oficial factions players(LSF,SA,JG etc) and all cap ships are independent. and one of the problem of liberty is, when you start from mannhatan as total new player, first thing that you see are the big ships piloted by independent players.
and dont forget one thin. when someone will fly BS,you can make the price 10x bigger as now, but he buy it.
' Wrote:Not point ing any fingers, but whens the last time anyone saw a thread complaining about outcast cap whores? This does work. The outcast council will be meeting soon (albiet out of role play) to come up with a list of regulations on this issue.
*Points to about 2 months ago* When you couldn't move in Gamma for all the Outcast capwhores crowding the place. It's one of the reasons I did the bolt.
Now it's the Corsair's turn. It goes like a see-saw.... first Outcasts, then Corsairs, back and forth, back and forth. In two months time, guess what...... we'll be having the same discussion about Outcasts.
If we can break the cycle...... nip the OORP behavior in the bud before than can buy a capship, so that they either become good RP'ers (as many people have), or bugger off, then the better.
For one thing, there is absolutely no justification for Corsairs to be in Liberty. It should be a sanction right there. What's next, Outcasts in Rheinland? Farmers Alliance in Bretonia? Wild in my back yard?
I got to throw the flag on that one Onca, Ze'ev my FA char has been staying with the NLH on Islay for awhile now, in a well RP'ed story. Ze'ev and the NLH have had a significant history of RP and they both fight the same enemies.
Not really on point, but the Farmers are talked about so rarely:(.
But I think the example is that Ze'ev has a really well thought out and played out RP and reason for spending time there. (Ze'ev also flys a small gunboat and a bomber)
Granted that RP can go one mile and twice the length of a Scotsman's long johns, but that post wasn't directed at you. It was meant(at least as I read it) to express the level of OORP actions and movement that the players in question take and to stress the invalidity of it.
Before we sanction Corsairs in Liberty. I like to RP traveling to liberty, with a and an empty cargo bay. To Pickup a relative on Manhattan. And take them to FP9. Also, I fly to Liberty to pickup new Brothers and escort them to Crete. I always ask for clearance tho. And Fly my titan.

Again - yes there is, and the way the trade set up is on this mod made it so. I don't understand why people cant see it..
The only commodity Corsairs can trade with any real value is artifacts and these are now essentially worthless anywhere outside of manhatten - People are gonna go where the money is. RP wise, Corsairs make their money off the back of a successful artifact trade - which means, in RP terms, its one of their major lifelines and supply routes - It makes perfect sense for Corsairs to A: Be there, and B: defend their ships in the area.
People use the "there are no Corsair NPCs in Liberty" argument all the time but the way i see it that argument in this case has no merit. The Trade route was changed in the mod itself, which means the fundamental POLITICAL realities, which in some cases are visibly represented by placement of NPC's, have gone out the window. The value was pulled out of the commodity everywhere else, So, NPC's or not after the changes made it NOW makes sense for Corsairs to be there.
I don't know if this applies to the cap ship problem, but i think it does account for at least PART of the reason as to why you are seeing more corsairs in liberty. (Some people are probably just looking for PVP though, i think we can all agree on that).
I think for Corsairs in the next version the artifact trade needs to be revamped, Luxury liner Hawaii needs to have its prices put up again, so does Yanagi, and Trafalgar... that being the case, and i think you might see a few less Corsairs, traders and their escorts at least, in Liberty.
Entering NY with permission to gather new recruits and carry them to get their gear is quite alright. Its in most cases considered a point of decency to allow people passage to assist in setting up their kids. There are of course exceptions, but the matter here is continuous OORP assaults and the growing matter of cap whoring. Though I really must say I appreciate the request for permission, it shows a solid RPer there:)
@Laowai; Trading is one thing mate, but carrying out "invasions" is another. Not too long ago I was privy to an independent Corsair "escort". It included one dreadnought and as I recall, two gunboats and perhaps one fighter. What I do recall was that they were guarding less than two transports. The point of their force? Shoot anything in sight so that they could "clear the area and fly in between systems unassailable. Now that matter is settled, but I am starting to have flashbacks.

Granted, as i said, i think everyone knows some people are just going there to pvp, and im not condoniing that.
But not everyone is - i even ran a load of artifacts to Rochester the other day in my gunboat - fully prepared to be caught and killed but thought it would be fun. And thats really my point, i wanted to run artifacts, to make any real money, i had to go to liberty.
