In any case, it'd be kind of awesome if different houses argued about year it actually was.
This should be canon.
Having it so citizens deriving from the various houses kept different years, that way everyone could keep the year they wanted for their RP and it works.
Perfik.
On a side note, please read the PM I sent you. Rather awkward mishap .-.
Many argue that it is 820 now because 4.86 been introduced in 2012 (819) and it is now 2013 (820). What if I say 4.85 been introduced in 2010 (818) and it is 2013 (821) now? This logic can be applied separately for each version with different results. That is why I don't agree with it and why I am still waiting for thegreen.
To those trying to argue that the calendar is different from what we use now, I am pretty curious what alternative they had in mind. A thorough elaboration would suffice I say.

I would suggest the idea that since Liberty landed before the other sleeper ships, in New York, they probably would have developed a time based around this solar rotation system. Say planet Manhatten's rotation took slightly longer than Earth's, causing each year to be longer than the predated calender. Again, assuming this would happen for each house, they probably would have either
A. Gone with Liberty's time, as they were top dog for landing first, or
B. Bickered and used their own time standards, until a negotiation was realized.
Since neither of these are mentioned in the timeline (hell, NOTHING is mentioned about this, so just about everything is speculation), I'm going to have to say B is the more plausible.
That explain-y enough for you?
You know, I can speculate too, everybody can speculate, that is why I was looking for something more specific and something more sure than mere speculation. Something ingreen maybe, those things tend to be standard.

and again I am telling you that all infocards for 4.87 are written as if the date is 820. Dates in discovery don't track up real time for the mere fact that development process doesn't. Each version is an advancement of a year.
