how do repair ships work?

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but how do the repair ships work??

Because, i thought that they go into a fight, drop bots and bats, then run away. But, then the enemy could just tractor in those bots and bats.

Is it possible there is a special gun for repair ships that could shoot bots and bats?? and if there isn't, is it possible to make guns that shoot bots and bats, but make them class 11, and make the turret holds on the repair ships class 11, so then they can only use them??

Most players dont have problems dodging 5-10 seconds... Its doable even in gunboats.

a repair ship should stay a little off the thick of the battle. - and its rather useful for bombers or warships. a fighter usually spends his time better dodging than trading.

a bomber however can make a run and leave the capital ships weaponfire range to restock bats/ bots maybe 3k from the warship.

a warship takes the greatest benefit from a repair ship. - even the biggest warship ( rheinland bb ) has "only" 1000 bats/bots. so it can fill its bays up 2.5 times with a single repair ship - giving it allmost 3 times the armor it usually has.
