A runaway by nature and force of habit, she deserted the Liberty Navy and fled to the Borderworlds where she found the Colonial Republic, empathizing with them, and seeing that they offered ample shelter, she enlisted in their cause, hoping to find a home worth fighting for.
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm actually just curious. Why would the Colonial Military enlist someone who deserted her previous post? As far as I know, desertion (in RL at least) is one of the most serious crimes one can commit while being part of the armed forces of a country (do correct me if I'm wrong). I would think that the Colonial Military (or any military really) would be very wary of enlisting someone who deserted his/her previous post so yeah, just wondering why.
Stop asking awkward questions
Part of Chamberlain's RP is that she's found a place to belong in the Republic, and one of the easiest ways to earn citizenship is through military service. They're also a little desperate for good pilots these days with their previous losses and less serious command structure.
You can also consider that factions like the Council, Hellfire Legion and these sorts are or at least were effectively built from defectors, so there's "Disco logic" to fall back on. It depends on the ideological reasons behind it, and from what I remember from months ago it was a messed up operation with civilian deaths that chased her away.
It was a pretty fair question, really Stolt...I would've told you to ask the CR why they accepted her, but it looks like Summer already gave a response. xD
Anyway, her desertion from Liberty is something that the Colonial Republic didn't reeeeeally find out a whole lot about until -after- Arisu was enlisted in their military. Way I see it though, it doesn't -really- matter to them because they're not exactly really close "friends" with Liberty or anything like that, so as long as Arisu is willing to serve the Colonials, her past probably doesn't really matter too much to them.
To be fair, everyone has to come from somewhere, and if all our characters had 'normal' backgrounds then things would be just as boring as if all our characters had "super awesome badass" backgrounds.
To be fair, even the Liberty Navy [LN] is filled with a fair few "misfit" characters, in addition to all those with semi-regular backgrounds. I like it, I think it makes things interesting.

Sorry to intrude on your thread, Sarah
Oh okay, that last part makes a lot of sense

Okay cool, I'm interested in seeing where the drifter character will go to next, or if she'll just permanently settle in Coronado (though I hope she drifts somewhere else since that creates a more interesting character storyline).
Added two of my long-time [LN] alt characters to my character list, reworked the way each character section was laid out, added my old K'Hara| characters to the "retired" section.
