Thing is I RP regardless, but not having to go online to supply the base is the difference - After all I am sure I am not the only one who has more than one game installed. The disabling of the bases allows me to do more on other games - which were taking a back seat compared to FL. I traded and RP'd - a lot of pilots didn't even say a word when I tried to rp with them.
If you only play Disco to supply a base, then you're probably not enjoying the game much anyways, and should move on to something else that you find more enjoyable.

This is also and illogical statement, since the infinite hours and money spent on a player base cannot be moved away from!

Uhm.. who knows but why should you care?
We try and do as much as we can to keep things fun and interesting.
There are plenty of folks hating on bases but yea we've embraced them.
The PoB's have lead to countless hours of activity and many player / faction interactions for us.
Not to mention loads of RP both in game and on the forums.
SO without them we will have to find other ways to keep our faction active.
Cheaters with no character, class or respect has forced the admin's hand.
Now were all paying for their "fun".. and yet some are cheering.
I've seen cheaters completely ruin other games and servers.
Now it seems some of you are wanting them to succeed.
Well I hope they don't because I do like playing here.
I've honestly been trying to learn about Player owned bases for a while but couldn't find anything on the wiki, anyone know where I can find the info on them incase they do bring them back?

Hello i logged on to find player bases are not available right now, and after reading a bit i see somethings cause em to be turned off untill further notice, which is sad, because when POBS are used in a responsible way, Can generate lots of fun and RP, i have experienced both the "Dark" side and the "Light" side of POBs
so i can understand everyones different oppinions, but why let the "few" spoil it for the Many" or what ever the case may be this time around,
some good points about player bases [From my veiwpoint]
Trade Centers/Ore Storages, these are some of the best uses for player bases these can encourage traders and miners to meet up, RP, Trade and have fun
Waystations: those good old player bases out in the wilderness, that can provide quite a few player interactions along with a place to repair thier ships
Factories: those hard to get parts? just order them INRP with factory owner, also allows for INRP supply runs , escort duty for suppliers and even piracy against said suppliers, this part also apllies to reade ports
Fortresses [when used responsibly]
Good place for RP before Combat, attack, defence ect between hostile factions
example Bretonia<->Gallia war
ive had some good fun centered around player bases, sad to see em offline
these are some of the stuff im gonna find it strange being without,
admins decision i guess, so its just a matter of wait and see
my two cents on this matter

I think this is largely down to "damage control" by the admins. People cheat, kill bases. Base owners then shout at admins to fix their base. Admin has to do stuff to recover it, confirm it's not a genuine kill, etc.
This way they have time to hire a hitman for our friend(s) the cheater(s) and then bring bases back.
