What people need to think is that the Zoners are like the wanderers of the deserts. They all consider themselves a type of people whos name eludes me right now. YET they all travel around as their own group, they have their own agendas, their own places to go so on. YET, they still follow the general lifestyle of their people. And if the need to band together with another group were to arise, then those who can and are willing will do.

The Same applies here

The Zoners are basically neutral wanderers of Sirius. The ethos (right word?) is that they remain neutral, they dont pick sides, and respect the rules of the houses they have left and remain out of politics that do not concern them.

Although the Zoner factions Official and unofficial do their own thing, they keep to those basic rules

All the above factions have taken the Zoner lifestyle, they are Zoners but they have chosen different paths of how to be, whilst still maintaining the Zoner way.

Now i agree that Zoner cap ships need abit of a tidy up. The idea of the nephilium (sp?) is to be a moving Freeport, not a giant platform of death, so prehaps it could be remade to be more like a super carrier, so be more about accommodating smaller ships and less about being a battleship, after all a moving freeport would need to be able to house any and all who would use it as a freeport. So when it comes to a battleship battle, the Neph would be alot less able to take a BS one on one without some sort of escort. It would in essence be a moving base rather then a battleship.

The problem is that players do need to realise this, that the Zoner's, the Zoner ID and so on, isnt an excuse to be able to just go around and pew everybody. Even as a Zoner guard your not there to fire on people, your there to return fire. If its not what you want to do, join someone like the BHG or become a freelancer

This makes me think to the zoner battleship topic being discussed elsewhere.
It's true we can find oorp among zoner indies, so any measure to improve global zoner rp is welcome.
However, it's a common phenomena observed among all indie factions. Therefore we should not focus on zoners only.

Maybe we should take the opportunity of the rollback to think again of what we want to do with disco. It's clear there are two different objectives that are hard to merge:
- high quality rp (which comes with constrains like server rules)
- high possibilities for the players. I remember I checked the list of ships registered on the server and found the distribution of these ships was not realistic (from an economic point of view).

I don't quite get what you're talking about here?
Have you gone over what kind of ships these actually are?
I.e. there are a lot of "civillian" ships that are currently somehow attributed to a specific faction due to player hoodickery

I see Zoners like a few tribes in early South America. They had welcomed or ignored the newcomers from Europe, being harsh only when provoked. Not to mention the fact how many exploration teams from Spain haven't returned from the jungle.

I believe there is one rule made by Zoners: You can stay - do not provoke us.

I would also point out some kind of ressemblace to Switzerland, which is neutral to all (it isn't in any trade, free-pass or political groups) but is really militarized country in the Europe (the obligatory military service with no excuses) and takes care about itself, minding own business.
It would be also Norway, being the basis for the Zoners, because they don't give a f*** about the European Union as well and also takes care of itself (they have resources for that and are independant from the rest of European Union) - not to mention the fact they even managed to check-mate the UK in the fishing territory.

The Zoners also live in the dangerous places, like Omicrons or Omega, Taus nowadays. And that's the reason why they advanced in their protection, like caps. Why wouldn't they just upgrade their weps if everyone around does so? Switzerland or Norway does the same IRL.

I wanted to compare Zoners to the Gypsies as my previous idea for a post, but Junkers more ressembles those - because of the cold attitude to Junkers and their infamy.

In the mentality and philosophy Freelancers and Zoners are NOT alike. Freelancers doesn't have their homes, they are just loose groups of people (okay, that's like Zoners a bit). Heck, they aren't even the faction, but independant members of the Sirius society. Unlike the Zoners, they are quasi-lawful, lawful and unlawful at the same time and can ally with anyone - Zoners cannot do that from the lore's point of view.
