Hm, the scanner nerfs. Oof, don't know what to think of this.
Whilst it does make sense that certain ships should only use some scanners, personally, I don't think it's a good idea to nerf scanners in terms of ship based compatibility.
Why? Because these kinds of scanners are so widely used on other ships, adding a nerf would shake up the gameplay for the worse.
At the very least, make scanners ID based. There are so many factions that need them beyond the ships they're limited to. For example, smugglers need long range scanners so that they can detect danger and stay clear.
When it comes to words, there's not really anything to say about scanners other than they way we're using them is perfectly fine now. Sure, it may be abnormal to see transport with a battleship scanner but:

Oh no, I wasn't saying that only smugglers need them, I was just giving an example. Of course, military and corporate vessels use them a lot too and need them.
It's not going to make them useless. Just nerf the ship.... So you will have to choose firepower etc over how far you can see.
And anyway. how many people have taken guns, armour and stuff off transports already to get the full 5k?

Fighters? Well..... Have one in a group with it as a scout. Not everyone needs it.
Take Rise of Nations as an example (Well, any games with scouts)..... Your scout reveals territory. It makes a seriously bad fighter and will die as soon as it gets into combat. But that is its role. To see whats out there, and not fight.
It might be a pain, and look like a bad thing.... but it is bringing in what could be actually a pretty awesome way to play the game in a group with friends and stuff. ( [insert something about teamwork here] )
