That was in the LPI ID once, actually. And was considered as completely valid RP. If the trader did not ask you very nicely and call you nice words and begged you, you'd simply cruise past him going all "What pirate..."

Aahhh...creative ways to pirate...I am bord with killing traders for not paying (and stealing there money)...maybe I'll try something like this
I do have a pirate that if the trader doesn't say hello or anything like that, I try to make them say it (can't having rude people going around) and if they refuse to...they go kaput (RP pirating is one of the more fun ways to pirate)
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT I SAID, IT MATTERS WHAT I MEANT!!!!

Have you seen The.Big.Bad.Wolf around lately?
He flies an unarmoured Civi Shuttle, and makes traders say "I am afraid of The Big Bad Wolf" in system. He speaks in third person like the fly (sorry, I stole that from you ), "The Wolf is displeased that you aren't afraid, he wants you to pay him 3 million as he's deeply offended".
I once did pirate someone with a freelancer ID I just remembered...I saw a trader away from anything so I CDed him, saw his scanner was crap and stayed out of range, just asked for a mil and he payed without saying anything xD (I did then escort him) I tried it later on someone by a base...they just docked....as did the other 5 traders around xD (I was just in an Arrow...10K away )

Offer yourself as an escort and make people pay you up front.
Then fly away.
Haha! Good idea, I'll have to try that, or actually escort him, and if we see a pirate, help the pirate instead by CDing he trader.
Or how about this: Follow a trader as a FL, get him in the middle of a lane somewhere, CD him, and talk in system saying stuff like "He's between Manhattan and West Point", "He's hauling Gold Ore, get here quick!", just pretend you have pirates coming to help.
Great ideas, boys. <sarcasm>
You know we have been trying to find escorts for years and we have been trying to motivate traders to hire some for... as long as I can think.
If what you describe happens to a trader once, he will never ever hire an escort again.
Thinking about the consequences of your actions might be worth it.
Well, space is a cruel place. And not to mention such actions would end up with consequences.

If anything, I think it would result in the guy trying to get a close group of friends to fly around with and scout for them. Or join an official faction to see how things are done and how to avoid such moments.

Whether or not your threat to kill a trader is a bluff is hardly relevant, since this is something only you know. What you're doing is indistinguishable from piracy from the trader's end and thus WILL get you sanctioned for breaking ID rules, as will this sort of behavior:

Like, cutting lanes and CDing until I am paid to stop doing so. It's perfectly fine to be a bully with FL ID, but mind that you WILL get consequences at the end (lawfuls will come to poop on your head)
If you want to stop traders to extort money from them, because that's exactly what you're describing, there's an ID for that. It's called the Pirate ID.
The fact that you're trying to find a loophole to misuse an ID to grief traders makes you sound like kind of a dick, by the way.

I didn't stop them to extort money. I slowed them down until they hired me as an escort for that system (or the next if I caught them close to jumping point) - something like paying up protection - pay or get bullied.
I didn't do it in empty systems however, only in those that they might actually need an escort. Something like the sorts - pay up and hire me or you'll soon enough be caught by pirates.
Saying that's invalid RP is the same as saying corporate bullying is invalid. It exists, and if you actually bother to roleplay instead of mindlessly power-trading it can be fun too.
