Because IC offers the opportunities that are not available to local privately owned companies. Also IC superior health plan and it's large security sector that can't be matched by privately owned company either.

William Nesmith (named after his grandfather from his mother's side, William Sky, captain of the Zoner Colony ship Dunnedain) is a child of two great families of traders. The Sky clan of Phoenix Zoners and the Nesmith familly of renowned traders who have been dominating certain parts of Kusari market for many years. He is also the poster-child for successful Liberty businessman.
He started working with his father on their familly mining operations (one of many similar ventures) in the age of 16 and since then launched his company from a scratch and lead it to it's greatest success in the form of acquisiton of a fresh-new Mastodon class Transport, built in Baltimore Shipyards up to his specifications (it includes thicker armor made from materials that are deemed to costly for the open market and includes large quarters and a private bar with attached casino and a swimming pool, making the ship into a hybrid between a super-transport and a yacht.
Knowing that he has moved into the adults league now William decided to play it safe and sell his company to change it into a subsidiary of Interspace Commerce, knowing that it will open him doors that no money or reputation as a handsome young Liberty billionaire could.

My father was a trader for the longest time, keeping food on the table for me and him, he was all I had, until died last year. He gave everything he owned to me, and I would like to continue his Legacy.

My name is John Ramsay, and I'm new when it comes to trading. My Father is who I look up to whenever I need help. The past few years, he took me on trade runs. Showed me the ropes and getting me used to space. It was good, untill last year he died. He left everything to me, and now I'm in need of a job. I have been doing this for about 10 months. Not very familiar with the way of the trader quite yet, but I will eventually. I want to continue what my Father did all his life, trading. Why do you want to work for Interspace Commerce?
After six month of inactivity in my trading business, due to gambling, drinking and playing poker, i lost even my last cents. I now got together with myself and made some money again to get a 2k Transport ship. Now i want to work for the first company i have ever worked for, again, since i had great times here.
Biography
My first employer after finishing the exams was Interspace Commerce. I hauled quite a lot of goods for the company, had several ships, living a good life. Then it pulled me back to my homeland where I worked for Daumann Heavy Construction, mining and hauling minerals. While working for Daumann my addiction cost me my job, but now i am back.

Risa did not have the most interesting life when she was born, only when she graduated from college did thigns begin to pick up for her. she got a job at a research office, and started looking into the logistics unloading systems that bases used for their materials. This was not what she wanted to do though, and eventually decided to become an employee herself
