What do people think of others reusing old (implying the past owners) ship names?

It's feels weird, though, when you see two of your old shipnames reused within a close timeframe, same name including the same special symbols and even the same ship; after you deleted your own versions

I had a situation that was similar to your question. I had a Liberty rogue bomber named Queen.Anne's.Revenge. I stopped using it for 4 months while playing my other characters. I then found one of those Outcast dreads near Rochester named Queen.Ann's.Revenge while playing my LPI character. This Outcast trolled everyone he encountered and got destroyed regularly by [LN], LPI, Bounty Hunters, and other factions. He earned such a bad reputation that I don't want to use that ship anymore because I don't want people thinking my ship is him.

As far as your question goes, My opinion is that unless the ship name has been inactive for a year or more it isn't right. Those ship names and the RP they have established should be protected.

There is a pirate that uses two of my LNS names minus the LNS. Said pirate had the balls to threaten me if I didn't change my names even though mine existed long before his. Needless to say the Admins were not happy and neither was I. Sadly though both characters are still flying around using my names.

It's pretty ah...uncreative, and a bit rude, to blatantly reuse a unique shipname, or something that another player/character was known for.

Now I'm not talking about say LNS-Berlin having a counterpart in Rheinland called RNC-Berlin or that sort of thing, that's bound to happen, naturally.

But if somebody were to go and copy shipname's like Finnegan's Wake, or Heavy Metal Queen, or Cutter's Flying Bar, to use themselves, my biggest question would be: Why? Why do you want to use a name that somebody else worked hard to make known?
