So I was playing a bit of Vanilla SP a while ago and I was reminded of the Order's intricate system of spies, agents and assets. I was wondering whether this idea could be translated into a faction? My ideas so far:
Name: Osiris Squad, Isis Agency or Atum's Agents
Tag: blank - For Covert approaches, or alternatively;
.Osiris, .Isis, .Atum - Attached for covert approaches and people can still know it's us.
O|, I], A| - Overt Special Operations pretag. Used for special occasions.
ID: This is a toughy. I'd like to say; Order - For realism, but the rephacks may be an issue Only for Covert Ops
Freelancer - Obviously the second choice. Allows for covert operations without much attention
IFF: Freelancer - Keep it overtly clean.
Tech: Anything available on the FL ID. SO long as you can provide backstory to it, it works. Order tech would only be available for Spec Ops or Overt shizz whaz. I'd like to say nothing larger than a GB, so that we don't get power crazed.
Base: Battleship Atum, Inverness. Secret, used to monitor Newcastle. Perfect for agents to operate out of. This also gives the faction a goal.
Goals:
Primary:
-To discover Nomad threats and deal with them accordingly
-To keep the Order as a covert faction (convincing people they don't exist, etc etc)
-Gather Nomad technology and return it to the Order.
Secondary:
-Acquire information about the Alien City in Newcastle, protect it from any irresponsible people
-Gather assets and allies for the Order within Bretonia
-Evaluate the Chester system
-Clean Bretonia from the recent Wild infection
Diplomacy: Carbon Copy the standard Order one for Overt doobly do. Covert would be neutral to all except Nomads and Wild. Everyone else is to be thoroughly investigated/questioned.
Ranking: I'd like to have a simple ranking system. Something like:
Initiate - Recent asset of the faction. Needs to complete an intel file on a single character to be up for promotion
Agent - Accepted into the faction as a fully fledged member. Promotions after this are given out according to performance and behavior. Allowed access to Overt snubs.
Operative - Valued member of the faction. Allowed access to all Overt ships.
Director - Leader of the faction. Dictates where agents are to operate in.
So yeah. Opinions on this? The faction would be for fun, so we wouldn't have to worry about getting logged all the time, but rather enjoying ourselves, covertly.
To be truly covert, you should use only FL ID/IFF without special tags, make alternative forum accounts, etc.
Otherwise you will still be treated as Order agents, one just won't say it to your face
well, as an Order| agent, I feel this idea is good. could use some finetuning though. Osiris is now a class, so not applicable. Isis is a wreck in Minor. Atum is ok,

A good point, but I'd still like to do some covert stuff for fun

Thanks! Finetuning will take place if people are actually interested, though. The 3 names were just Egyptian Gods that I named, I didn't think it would actually matter
Seems good. Could do with a lot of thinking about the ID part as well as the tags. Since players will come to know that it is an Order group. FL ID/IFF is best, and with an unannounced tag,or no tag at all, if that is possible.
I'd suggest rolling tag'less for covert ops. Less people will track you by the tag and you could always keep note who's in the faction on skype or somewhere else private. Also Order ID and FL IFF will be good until they scan you so you might want to stay a few extra klicks away from cops and navy just to be sure they won't scan and go "OLOL ORDER AGENT DETECTED" Other than that the idea is pretty cool.

My main issue with untagged was keeping a role, but I think I may have a way around it. But I think untagged, FL ID/IFF works, even with the restrictions of the ID.
