The obvious difference is the convenience and cost of the activity. Farmers and real truckers find their job a chore because they do it all the time. Gamers on the other hand can enjoy the activity because they only need to do the interesting and fun bits without the accompanying responsibility and consequences. Besides, there is no route in ETS2 that takes an actual 11 hours to drive because if there was, the game would not be fun and ppl would not play it.
And point #3, many players here have various educational degrees, you don't expect someone with a doctors degree to go drive a tractor for a living and earn a crappy income just because an aspect of it is fun?
Flight sims on the other hand - irl, jet fuel is simply too expensive, you need years of training and you can't expect to rent a 747 on your measely income, besides they wouldn't let you even if you do have the money.

I dont own a doctors degree, but I just about do that. The income isnt really bad though.
This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.

Heh I've qualified and worked in engineering (ie repaired and maintained machinery) for 4 years paid employment and yet I left it to work as a casual labourer. Being qualified in something doesn't mean you will or want to do it forever.
