Things settled down. This day was almost even annoying.
We made a nice profit today, and no system bug was detected, which is almost lucky according the recent days.
Meanwhile the 3rd operation (always the 3rd is the winner) we experienced although something interesting. Not mention, that we at last found the BOWER of the said VIOLIN at the field of <<Encryption code #NIDO DI XAVIER#>>, which is in itself a miracle, our ship, the Libeccio's core computer was the one, "who" lead us to it, even if, I hope so, was a blind luck, a random event.
We was complying our duty, when her turned around, and her nose radar pointed right on that little, tiny violin bower. It just floated before us, 39 feet from us. Unbelievable, no other words.
I've rised from the pilot seat to go for a coffee, probably I must've touched the manipulator, so the ship turned, however, I'm not so sure I really did. I can't decide, strange indeed, and the switch of the SIMAR, is far from that manipulator, which turned on too, without willing to switch it. The SIMAR glimpsed it, clear and unquestionable form of the long searched object, right in the middle of a vast debris field.
Rusty is still in euphoria, not so Flavia and myself, who were sentenced to hear this instrument voice. It has yet only one string (we had found it with only one intact). Still, I'm happy for him. Since than, I hasn't heard him cussing. Flavia, well...they are like a pair of scales, one must cuss. But she is too busy to make it seriously, she try look over the logs of the ship again and again, she is the type who won't let go a puzzle till she gets it.
These events with the Libeccio is mysterious and some way alarming, but for now, her run like dream, and the profit is acceptable, as the risk. We are going to continue keep her monitored.
Not much founds this time, still, here is the list:
- an other cooling unit, this time for the computer core
- a servo-mechanic unit for the cargo hold, in bad shape though
- engine parts, as spare could be useful
- an almost intact space suit, Flavia is going to analyze it
- a deep scanner antenna
- a PCU (Personal Cargo Unit), we may discover who owned this once
End of the line for this weak. We found a lot of nice objects this week, and we haven't had yet occasion to catalogize and utilize those valuable items.
We stay for the weekend in <<Encryption code #PATRIA ANTICA#>>. I've dismissed the crew, and locked down and secured the hangar of our Libeccio.
Time for siteseeing, bars, beaches...
I'm very content with our progress so we earned this little holyday.

Text:
After a nice weekend, and the long hours in almost all of the most famous bars of Malta, we managed to get down for work again. The Libeccio is in great condition, after some minor tweaks, and after we merged the founds of last weeks into her.
The hull was slightly reinforced in C,D,G and H zones. I want no more leaks.
The computer core is ready as never, after two days of diagnostic.
Today we were up to get some profit, and we prioritized our task to gain some credits, even if Flavia was against it, as she cried out "too boring". I must agree on that, but some credit surplus might come handy later.
- 1. operation (2 times):
TYPE: <<Encryption code #ORANGE JUICE#>>
- 2. operation (2 times):
TYPE: <<Encryption code #D'ORO PIGLIATO#>>
- 3. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #GUIZZO DELLA TERRA#>>
- 4. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #PALLOTTOLA NERA SULLA CATASTA#>>
- 5. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #CATASTA DEL TESCHIO#>>
The last two trip was for the interest of the congress, and that way I can sleep nicely.
Nothing happened really today, except a few frowns from Flavia's part. She was tweaking the core computer of the Libeccio. Seemed quite upset, but it's not a big deal, usually engineers do this time to time.
Although, this time she was murmuring something like "It can't be, it wasn't me...why, who..." But when I've asked her about, she just shacked her head and wasn't able answer me, she was deep in it, whatever it was.
I've learned to not disturb her in that state. When something will come out, she will tell me, I'm sure, I trust her.
Nice profit, boring trips. But hey, not every day we have to battle against a dragon...

Sometimes I feel like, that mankind should disappear from Sirius. Maybe AIs and nomads are better then us. At least they haven't hardhead cops.
Today happened an encounter with the rheinpolice, in Hamburg system, which showed me again, why I MUST avoid every contact with house representatives.
But first thing first, the operations of today:
- 1. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #GALEOTTI DA PASSATEMPO#>>
- 2. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #D'ORO PIGLIATO#>>
This point I must stop and add some detail. We were passing through HAMBURG system, using lanes, when I was stopped for control by officer (<<transponder code censored>>). We did as he asked, stopped, and let our cargo scanned, as nothing we had to worry about, our cargo wasn't contraband.
The officer found our cargo, and asked for it's destination. Here began the problem, even if I had wanted to tell her, I wasn't able to do so, The Libeccio core computer locked us out. Unbelievable, but true.
Those hardheads kept holding me, and asking the same stupid question, and I kept to answer that I wasn't able to tell them, as we had a core locked down. Some others came, and, as our communication was still able, I used to call other congressmen, to help clear the situation friendly, before hell comes on us. We were really worried, those officer not only overdid they job, but they were harassing me very seriously. Why? I don't really know. Some officers on the spot told, that we hadn't contraband, so we should have been let to go, others, not, and charged me, that I wasn't assisting them and their right to know second the law, our destination (which is probably right, and I could tell a lie and go, but I had more serious things to worry about, like our core computer) Seemingly they don't even heard what I was talking about. The core computer of the ship locked out us, no engine, no data to send, nothing, only communication, like a stubborn child. Flavia was so upset, that she even said those antic, and I must add, very offending words in Italian. Our luck, they weren't able to understand her, at last I had to cut his channel, not even Rusty was able to hold her back, she was furious, and I can't even tell either it was because the core or 'cause the officer.
After a while the situation became very tense, and at last, Flavia and I, together we managed to hack in the core, and make some believable data string on our destination (which, of course wasn't the real one), and to send her them. Our core made it so right, that almost I was believing in it, except I know where we had been heading.
They escorted me in Frankfurt after the things settled down, and I was to take the jump hole, to sigma, when they stopped me again, even firing on us. They stated, that it's their law, and they have right to tell me, that I must get the gate. Yes, at that point I lost my cold blood too. How they dare to make such a thing? I'm not criminal, I wasn't holding contraband, and they tell me how to fly and where?
It's a joke not a government or a democracy.
I won't complain officially, because it's useless. Rheinland showed me how ungrateful is. From that point, I won't supply for a while their Dortmund smelter with valuable scrap metal (which I did till this point a lot of time with good heart), I will help Liberty, or Bretonia, or the Corsairs instead. I hope they will lose their house and learn some humbleness some day. They think, they don't need us, but the congress can count a lot in a war-machine like theirs.
After the incident we followed our plan, and complied some other operations:
- 3. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #VELENO CARO#>>
- 3. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #D'ORO PIGLIATO#>> (this time without encounter)
- 4. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #ORANGE JUICE#>> (was risky, but this time we were very aware to avoid everyone)
- 5. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #GUIZZO DELLA TERRA#>> (was risky, but this time we were very aware to avoid everyone)
That was the end of the line. Profit was acceptable, even if we lost a lot of time in Hamburg. Still, the lesson was valuable.
I hope we can let Flavia settle down slowly too, she is a hot tempered, and won't forget easily, which is a risk for us, but we love her that way.
About the main computer core of our beloved ship, when we was in the bar, out of Libeccio, she told me about something, which makes me worry, but I won't write it in the diary, till there aren't evidences, better be careful.
Text:
Today it was peaceful, and without critical events, and I'm happy with that. I won't count here, as critical event, that Rusty keeps play on that old violin, had been found few days ago.
We met a Liberty police officer near Los Angeles, he was quite polite and efficient. Asked us to stop, scanned and then let us go after a short inspection. Was a nice surprise, maybe the cops of Liberty got some manner meanwhile I was in Rheinland.
I was worried for a short second, because Flavia added the turret commands in the core, and Rusty, thanks god, was reluctant to use them. Maybe I should speak with her, after the Hamburg fiasco she is a bit hotheaded when words comes to house cops.
Or, there is something else too, she behaves a bit strange, speaks and murmurous when she is alone. This I've tried to eavesdrop her, but she mainly cussed on the MCC (Main Core Computer). Once I cached few words like "They wouldn't understand..." or "...for now better if we keep it in secret...", "...no, not yet...I'm sure...". Maybe I could order some medical surveillance, but I won't let her think, that I'm not trust in her. I have to wait, maybe soon she will tell me what's wrong. I must think, that It may in connection with the recent core malfunctions.
After all, that was a nice day with pleasant profit, running low risk.
Also we picked some treasures when we was in the field:
- nuclear mine barrels, Flavia will transform it into toxical cargo holding unit
- a medium sized manipulator for robotic factory, we weren't sure what to do with it, but certainly Rusty and Flavia will find out, maybe our cargo hold can utilize it.
- a RCES (Robotic Combat Exo-Skeleton) in catastrophic shape, but if we manage to repair it, can be also used in cargo hold for loading, unloading bigger things
- an old soft drink machine, empty...written on it "C..a ..la", interesting object, but useless, we keep it, maybe a museum will get it
- Hull elements compatible with the Libeccio's plating, we keep them as spares
- 2 cargo unit soil, dunno how it ended up there, interesting, Flavia want it for "flowers"...I don't know why, but till won't use too much space, we can spare a spot for it

We made a nice round in the lower part of Sirius today, long hours of tour but at least profitable, and peaceful.
The first part of the route was unchanged.
Here we add some change, because I wanted visit our friends, and get some <<Encryption code #GRIMALDELLI DIGITALI#>>, as Flavia stated, with the help of our <<Encryption code #MAGHI DIGITALI#>> friends, we can find the failure in the MCC.
Against my expectation, we weren't served, so we had to turn back, but I can accept they reluctance, maybe we knocked on the wrong, back door.
Other hand, making this small roundabout to there, to no-mans land, we've found something very interesting. A HUGE jump gate and kind of experimental station too. Flavia inspected, and the database was quite short-worded, but, without doubt, it must've been an experimental project of some kind. We will discuss it further with the crew, and we are maybe going to return to inspect it even further. Shame, I never would let the crew and the Libeccio passing through, at least without certain data on the other side, which, I fear, for the moment is unavailable for us. For this spot, and for the inspection of it, we made a new type of activity in our records: <<Encryption code #RICERCHE I.#>>
Even so, we found a way to make the trip at least a bit profitable.
So we continued our tour:
- 4. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #DIFENSE TERRA-A-TERRA#>>
- 5. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #MINERALE DA PROPULSORI>>
With that, the circle was full. As we landed we got the report of the patrols, that the gates are under attack, so we decided to stay and get to the bar with the crew and "fare un brindisi" on our profit of the day and talk about the MCC. Flavia is still keeping her secret, but I feel, soon she will reveal it. I hope so, otherwise I have to give it in command. The current situation can endanger the ship and the crew. We can't fly for long with an unstable MCC.
Our route was quite peaceful, we were questioned only once in NB, by a patrolling battleship, but we were so nice to not carry any contraband, as we aren't smugglers, and we told so to the very polite captain of the patrol.
Our new position at <<Encryption code #ROCCIA PERDUTA#>> may will become handy in the next period to supply bases, and aid the congress once again, as I plan to do so.
Flavia and Rusty were today very playful, they made a nice big whoop-de-doo in the cargo hold. Kids...
Today the MCC was surprisingly stable, even so, I was more then upset when I realized, that this damn thing was recalibrating the fly control, meanwhile Flavia was running some diagnostics. Flavia states that's totally normal behavior and gave me a nice explanation, engineer talk on it. Don't know, for me it's strange, such as Flavia's reaction. She talks lately as "we". Who? Next time I will command her to go for a medical treatment. We spent a lot of time out there, and that can make one....
I guess, we are going to spend more time with salvaging, it was always her favorite hobby, Mentioning it, we had some nice catch today:
- medical sensor parts
- a book, paperback, amazing thing, shame it can't be read, maybe few pages
- a hunting rifle, laser, from around 544 a.s. or so, I like it so much
- various low quality alloys and gadgets (sometimes the SIMAR is too precise, I've already told Flavia, but she shrugged only on it)
At all, I'm pleasant with our finds and profit, If we can keep up this trend then I shouldn't worry much about my retirement (even if it won't be an early one).
Text:
We made a slight progress in the research on the MCC problem, meanwhile we continued the circle trip back to it's start. We were contacted many times as part of the congress, because the tense situation with the <<Encryption code #BRACCO RABBIATO#>> in Texas and Puerto Rico. Shame, we wasn't able to serve with too much information, in fact, we were a bit clueless, still, I've tried to answer every single communication regarding <<Encryption code #PORTA BLINADATA#>>.
First of all, our daily trip:
- 1. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #CATASTA DEL TESCHIO#>>
- 2. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #DELINQUENTI COMUNI#>>
- 3. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #D'ORO PIGLIATO#>>
- 4. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #ORANGE JUICE#>>
We are still looking for some advanced softwares to analyze our MCC a bit more deeply, came to my mind that we should visiting some research stations here and there, but almost all of them were out of limit till now, Sooner or later we'll find one which can accept our docking and, in which we can trust too. Not an easy task.
Flavia is still behaving herself a bit strange and closed, but I see now clues of opening. Today she pointed out, that I'm blind If I can't see how valuable our MCC is, when I voted in favor of change it as soon we found enough resource. She protected it with her body and was very angry. I don't think it's normal, but she, as every chief engineer by the junkers, is a bit ginky. But I've just realized, that she always refers on that computer as a person. How could it be a person? I value our ship, was built by our own hand, but the main computer core seems damaged somehow, and I want not risk the whole ship. I must admit, lately not happened any incident, shield failure, or hull breach due pressure control malfunction, but, it doesn't mean, that It's alright. How could be good, no one repaired it, and we hadn't had no clue on the causes of the failures. I don't think in the philosophy of "what you can't see, won't hurt you", especially not in the case of computers.
I should have talk with Flavia since the first occurrence of her reserved behavior, now, I can't put it off anymore. She stated again, that she made some progress with the analyzes of the former diagnostics, and revealed something, so it's time to reveal to me too the "great secret". Can't be so painful, we have to simply share it, as with any other problem we did since the beginning.
Rusty won't help much, nor yet he harms a bit with his constant rambling and joking around her. I guess I will let him play on that damned violin again, so I can be sure, he will be busy elsewhere.
I was almost forgetting, we found a brand new manipulator arm for Rusty's loading exoskeleton (former battle armor). Flavia proposed to built in as a third arm and giggled on it a nice lot, but I think, we can exchange the empty and useless bayonet arm of the machine. I doubt he will ever close combat with that rusted thing.
Text:
I'm not a newbie captain and I hadn't began yesterday my exploration in Sirius, still, I can be surprised. Today happened something, which let me think on the events of the last weeks in a whole new perspective.
Even so, let's stick with the formalities:
- 1. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #PALLOTTOLA NERA A ROBIN HOOD#>>
- 2. operation:
TYPE: <<Encryption code #ESCURSIONE DI GIOIA#>>
- 3. operation (2 times):
TYPE: <<Encryption code #DELINQUENTI COMUNI#>>
First of all, some explanation for the first operation. The <<Encryption code #BRACCO RABIATO#>> still holds the embargo blockade in Texas. The situation seems like they are hunting us, but who cares really, they are just kids playing "James Bond". I decided to help from now on the <<Encryption code #ROBIN HOOD#>>, maybe they will help us in this situation.
But on the board of Libeccio is happening something more important. I hadn't had time yet to talk with Flavia, but now, it seems, this lost the cause. Today our precious and malfunctioned MCC began to talk me. Yes, exactly. As turned out, the events of the past weeks weren't a simple malfunction, it was kind of very low probability scenario which led to the awakening of an artificial intelligence inside our MCC (as later the AI itself stated, the probability of such an event was 1 to 10 on 1983344, unbelievably low) Who knows exactly why happens and how, these things? Maybe the violin, the leak on the board, the constant chatting of Flavia and Rusty, my cigar...Random events terminated in this.
I must admit, she, the AI seems "female", so she is friendly and harmless. But I can't trust in an AI. Never worked with one before, I have so many doubt. Is it secure, what if a day she decide to kill us and than she roams and wanders around Sirius to find her same kind? So I decided to call for the <<protocol zero-lambda-nove-nove-kappa-zulu>>. Our ship was put under quarantine. No personal was authorized to leave the board nor to come on board (that was before the 2nd and 3rd operation). We stopped after the 1st operation to analyze the situation.
We managed to find some in the egg protocol for the AI, which We'll have to develop further. Flavia was an able aid in this, as she is a great engineer (seems she hadn't nothing to do with the recent malfunctions). We agreed with the new AI of our ship on the next points:
- The AI cannot be able to try roundabout the following rules nor with or without willing it
- The only person in command on the Libeccio is Capitano Tano Cariddi, no command override possible (not even in the case of adherence to the following rules)
- The only person who is authorized to use the weaponry of the Libeccio is gunner Rusty "Hammer" Monroe following the command of Capitano Tano Cariddi, or in extreme situation Chief. Engineer Flavia Speranza.
- The AI must respect all life form on the board and out of it (except in the case of collision with the first rule)
- The AI must keep in secret her existence out of the circle of the crew and the congress and the signed persons.
- The AI isn't authorized to communicate in any way with her race (see the rule before)
- The AI's new name will be: <<Random Event Generated Irregular Neural Aberration (R.E.G.I.N.A.)>>
Arbiter James Trenton was updated on the news. He was surprisingly helpful in the matter. I had been worried a bit, but seems without real foundation.
After the first steps taken, we continued or way back to Puerto Rico for further inspection. I wasn't able to let the chance go and we made some profit too, even if, with a slight risk, as both in the 2nd and 3rd operation our cargo was alive. But once again, my worry wasn't right.
Second the current states, we have a new member, so I should be happy. Although I'm still without trust toward her. This trust must be earned.
We choosed a new route for the first operation. In a sense it's more "legal" in <<Encryption code #CASA D'AQUILA#>>, so, the <<Encryption code #BRACCO RABBIOSO#>> can't harm us.
After this, we received a call from <<Encryption code #Sig. Carta Vincente#>>, in the name of congress asked us to help with 2nd and 3rd operation.
<<Encryption code #REGINA#>> was very helpfull, she does everything to win my trust (Flavia's she got already) which is nice but makes me also worried. Maybe I'm just too paranoid. I must admit, she is a valid help in determining the best route, the probabilities, and I let her navigate in a rock field, she made it without the slightest mistake, fearsomely precise she is.
From now on I'm going to delegate more task to "her". If it helps and increases the profit, why should I repel it? Still, I must be aware and not let my guard down, even if she hasn't shown any sign of disobedience.
Today the profit was acceptable, but we were able to give the congress a valid aid.
