Was about to say that.
Freelancers don't have many bases, as far as I know, there are only two bases Freelancers have. Coronado, which has Barrier Gate, and Koeln, ( I don't remember the name ). So giving Freelancers their own systems, away from houses, doesn't sound like a bad idea. I think it would be fun having Cayman used as a Freelancer system, Mercenaries, smugglers, other creatures....just my opinion. But giving it to a faction thats pretty much dead or don't log ( Sorry Tabby <3 ), I don't see how it will be a productive system.

You can ignore reality but you can not ignore consequences of ignoring reality

This is all IRP ofcourse. (edit)
Oh, and we couldn't have that, now could we? That might mean there would actually be.. gasp... ACTIVITY in that area. CONFLICT, even. Hide your children, hide your wives!
There's already conflict IRPly, You got Corsairs moving a battlegroup into O-49, Coalition/Mollys moving to stop them and the Zoners in the middle. Personally when I'm between two large groups with big guns I don't want to startle them into shifting their aim.
But now that I'm thinking of it I'm wondering what the Corsair angle on this would be (if any at all...)

Sure. However, are they actually playing this out ingame? I haven't seen any evidence. O-49 is pretty far for the Corsairs to go, when they can get fights more readily closer to home.
We'd need to make some changes. We'd need to oorply encourage these groups to fight with us, and not throw FR5's at them when they do. I'd also like to relax the combat restrictions on the Zoner ID in such a way that facilitates conflict in and around Omega 49/Cayman/whatever.
And we'd need our official factions to not try and squash the conflict. In this regard, Cayman is a better choice, since OSI has kind of set up shop in O-49 and likely would try to shut down the conflict there. This way, the Zoners who want to participate in the conflict can associate themselves with the Zoners in Cayman, without affecting Zoners elsewhere.
Ideally, I would set it up in such a way that:
The Zoners want to stand their ground
The SCRA wants to take over
The Corsairs want to oppose the SCRA and, wary of the Zoners' expansion, want to squash this group but cannot, inrp, devote a large force because they're already fighting in so many other regions
Mollies/Hessians side with SCRA to oppose Corsairs
My original idea included a new commodity that these factions wanted to keep out of each others' hands, so that convoy escorts might actually happen.
But how would it be set up exactly? Like would the Zoners have TOTAL control over the stations or would it be divided like say the Zoners would control the Kara Stella Research Station and Shadowhaven while the Corsairs and Coalition would have the other two facilities taken over and the sides would battle for domination of all Cayman and the resources it holds?
My original idea involved the Zoners assuming control of all 3 bases, and discovering some sort of new chemical that could be refined into a drug that could reverse the effects of Cardamine addiction. The Zoners want to get it to Cryer, the Corsairs want to keep the Outcasts from getting it, and so on.
But, that sounds good, too. There's a lot of ways this could be done, that would be better than doing nothing.
