So I am tired of chasing down someone, being surrounded by a ton of friendly ships and then a casual CD or a mine turns them hostile...
So It is me trying to CD the target and that turns me into the arch enemy?
If it is a bug I would make an effort to understand, but if it is intentional.... well some explains have to be made so it is made clear to all those who find that highly ooRP and stupid.
I understand you. Once as [RM] wraith I had fighting with Hessians near planet New Berlin. I fired few CDs and police snubs turned hostile. Then... "incoming torpedo" One npc cruiser fired two torpedoes at me and I exploded. Sometimes I also CD'd bases and was forced to move to other base and relog.
It is intentional from vanila. Sometimes you can even swith npc's shield down by guns. But if it is by ammo, they will return fire without warning. Problem is with explosion radius. There weren't r=400m weapons in vanila. So now you can CD target, from close range yourself and npcs around. Really annoying. Game wasn't supposed to have explosions with this and similiar radius. There was very little chance to CD friendlies.

If you have full green rep with said NPCs they won't turn hostile even if you kill 1-2 of them. Not a fix but a workaround.
I do that with most of my lawful ships.

So if I am say.... a merc or a bounty hunter and I am being paid to defend corporate interests. Do I need to spend 2 hours to make my ships rep suitable? Whats the point of all those restarts again? Therefore your argument is INvalid.

If you don't want to do it then don't. Simple.
No need to be an arse about it.

Sure I will enjoy being shot by BAF dessies on my police char because I dont have time to make my rep suitable with all bret corporations...
You seem to know more about these things.
So if I throw my gum on the ground and some police officers steps on it, he will find me, murder my family and shoot me in the head?
According to the NPC logic? Yes.
If you have a better solution then do say what it is. I'd surely be happy not to have to rep chars with everything that may get angry over a CD.
P.S: If you don't want to get shot by said BAF destroyers you need full green rep only with BAF. No need to care about the corporations.

Remove the CD/Missile/Mine hostile trigger. As well as it is quite common nomads to hug Freeport 11 in Delta hoping you to CD them. Afterwards you get blown because the station decides to shoot you instead of the nomad. Priority...
I will give you another example for that as well.
You are a police officer and you see a murder being made and a local hooligan bullying the school nerd. You should go catch that murderer not chase the hooligan with a machete right? NPCs think otherwise...
