Finally, after several delays, William Walker had left Planet Houston and proceeded to Tinker's Haven. He could already see the base even if he was just leaving Houston's moors and he thought the location was really good, it was near Houston and also near the lanes, making it easily accessible. Even though there were lot of incursions from Rheinland lately and such but this was Texas. He finally thought that this could really work for being the hub of their relief supplies and office. He hope that he would be able to convince Mr. Tukker and Fynn to let them use some of their space.
Disembarking from the Serenity Transport he spoke to of the the docking personnel,
"Hi, my name is William Walker of Sirius Relief Organization. Could you kindly take me to Mr FynnMcscraps' office? I believe He is expecting me."

"Hi, my name is William Walker of Sirius Relief Organization. Could you kindly take me to Mr FynnMcscraps' office? I believe He is expecting me."
The dock worker nodded and pointed the guest the colour marks on the floor and the walls.
"Sure, we will tell Fynn that you are here. Just follow the marks on the walls. Jellow is office and living quaters,
thats where you want to go.
Red is emergency route ,so if someone comes stomping down the corridor and the signals are flashing get out of the way,
will you ? And blue too, thats MedEvac priority.
Oh, and mind the markings on the floor : they show you where the automated hauling platforms move. They dont stop till the sensor reacts to your direct touch, and some of the boys get quite angry if the emergency break shifts the load and they have to reload about half a ton of scrap per hand in the middle of a corridor."
The other worker nudges his partner.
"Never seen this guy before. Should we bring him to Fynn ?"
"Nah, we´re in the middle of a shift, laddie ! Still have to load these 25 palettes of electronics and recycled PremScrap into the Pride. Skipper will take her out even if Fynn is buisy.
Eh, Mister ... Walker, was it ?
Don´t need a bodyguard here at the Haven and theres no need to lead you through a space station like soome bloody rookie, no ? "
Now both workers grinned at the guest, waiting for his reply.
Friendly people, Walker thought. He tried to follow the directions they've giving him, almost got lost at some corridors. Walker thought, looks small at the outside but its kinda big inside. Following the yellow line he arrived at the door where it said
"Office of the Foreman"
"Fynn McScrap"
Entering the office he saw a man sitting by the desk reading reports. Fynn studied the man, short black hair, slim frame and has a deeply lined face, but no scars. He looks like kinda Hispanic. Hopefully he will be more understanding to our cause, Walker thought.
"Mr McScrap, its Wiliam from Sirius Relief Organization, Its good to finally meet you. We have a great deal to talk about" William let seated on the chair to the left since the other one was filled with boxes.
"I'm impressed by your base Fynn, I hope you don't mind me calling you Fynn."
"Now before anything else let me describe our Organization. We call it the Sirius Relief Organization. Its a non-profit organization that delivers aid to people who are in need especially in war torn areas. Usually we deliver food, water, clothing, materials so that they can rebuild again. Now, what we are actually in need now is an office space and cargo space for our supplies. would you be able to offer us this?
Fynn McScrap looked up, smiled and showed beside the paperwork he was currently finishing.
"Welcome Mr. Walker, and well met. "
Standing up from behind the simple office desk and circling to greet his guest the Junker smiled a warm greeting.
He then gestured toward a low table and some comfortable seats in the back corner of the office.
"Do sit down, I will just make us some tea. Or would you rather have something else ? I have a fine Bretonian blend here, a gift from a friend at BMF. We try to encourage some little luxuries from time to time, it helps ceeping morale high."
Fynn pulled back a false wall screen to reveal a well stocked but very small kitchen space directly next to the sitting area and busied himself while keeping up a steady chatter.
" As you see we try too utilize the available space as best as possible, as our storage and reprocessing facilities are quite extensive and the construction of the Hospital grounds is well under way. If you are interested in a working office such as mine here I can only advise to use the same setup. I even sleep here quite often, and have no complaints."
He gestures around : " Interior capacity of the Station is used in a moduled layout, with any module of about 1000 cubic units being able to be filled with a different layout. This module here holds office space and living quaters for about 100 crew members. We have 400 crew members at the Haven and await about 200 more as soon as the Haven Memorial Clinic is opened. So far we have 3 different module layouts ready : crew space, cargo space and production space."
FynnMcScrap stops, turning and looking directly at his guest.
"I am unpolite. Mr. Walker, what can I offer you while we start compairing our organisations ?
I suggest I show you the Base layout and the available module slots later in a walkthrough of the base. After that if you still have the time, we will fly down to our planetside offices to meet Mr. Tukker as a representative of the Board of Trustees. We would like to invite you to a meal there as a conclusion of this meeting. I am sorry that I can not at this moment guarantee that Doc Nagger, our Chief resident, will be able to join us."
"Coffee will be fine Fynn, now I just want to give you an idea on what our operations might be. We would need sufficient space for our office which would be small, a cargo bay for our supplies and maybe sleeping quarters for our volunteers/crew which would be not more than 50 people."
Walker stood up and looked outside the window. Just then a salvager ship was just docking.
"Would you docking bay be able to accommodate both our ships?"
"One is the Serenity transport that you already saw, its primary function is to gather supplies and volunteers. And the other one is a converted passenger liner donated by FloxCorp. Its the one that does all the work, going from area to area months at a time only stopping here to resupply and maybe some repairs. Would there be an issue about docking it here?"
"Now for the big questions, would you be able to accommodate us and how much would be the rent?"
"Please do remember, we are a non-profit organization so most of our funds go to getting supplies" Walker threw that last sentence in there hoping that would bring the price a notch or two.
"So you would not need a full crew module , hm ? Well , we could probably squeeze you in with the rest of us as a bonus. That means you would have to use the same cantine and your Crews would probably end up in the rotating bunk system at the station. You see, except the offices like mine or the bureau of Mr. McKannon we have no seperate compartments for single crewmates. The crewmen sign in at the beginning of a 2 week shift and pick the first free bunk in a 6-man room. I could try to reserve a couple of the rooms for your men but I cannot guarantee privacy at all times. On the other hand, if you wish to rent and refurbish an office module for your purposes solely, you would have the equivalent of 1000 units cargo space to design as you wish. Offices, Sleeping quarters, training and equipment facilities ? No problem, all can be installed according to your wishes and would come with a feasable rent"
While talking he poured the coffe for Mr. Walker and brewed a Tea for himself. Then he joined his guest at the table and spread out a foiled layout plan of the Haven between the two of them.
"We would treat your Crewmen like all members of Haven Staff and they would have to have the same working shifts to avoid any unrest with my crews. 2 weeks work shift, one week free time. We are planning to construct a rest&recreation area down at Houston and will even work on settling some of the T&T members willing to found a family there. A whole little community with all logistical and social needs met. It is quite profitable in its own way and one or two of our Trustees are looking forward to opening shops and even shools and educational facilities there. But this is still for the future."
He saluted to his guest with an ironic wave
"I predict that Mr. Tukker is only waiting to get his hands on you. A steady inflow of refugees to be cared for with the chance of setteling then somewhere else to start a better life could be just the boost we need to get these projects started. And no, we do not talk about modern slavery here, we talk about getting education and care so that a new start is possible."
He concentrated back on the map foils :
"As for cargo space : we will work out the exact deal together with the representative of the Board of Trustees later on today. Im not the one to set figures, even though I run the Haven on a day-to-day basis. It probably depends on how much cargo space you want reserved, and if it is off limits for our short time needs or just organized along with the rest of the available space. Look, here... "
In the next half hour Fynn continued explaining the logistic needs of the scrapping rig, the short time cargo shortage combined with construction work on the Haven Memorial Clinic and the necessary rules and regulations he as the Foreman of the Base would insist on at any time. A lot of informations, and a concentrated buisness meeting.
"... as you see, cargo space is not realy cheap, and allotted along with the modular structure like all logistics here at the Haven. If you prefer to reserve it solely for the SRO , it will be more costly but still afordable. All costs are checked by me and priced according to the number of modules needed. So, you can buy or rent cargo space at the Haven in 1000 unit lots for as long or as short as you wish. We would expect to finance a part of our repair works and the supplies needed to sustain them from the rent, but not much more."
Fynn watched his guest closely, trying to judge the impression this all had left.
"So, Mr. Walker. I do not need any direct answer, even if I would greet feedback. Why not take a walk around the Haven and do some brainstorming while we wait for the Transporter to arrive and carry us down to the planetside site?"
After several hours of walking around the base, looking around and talking to the personnel. Walker was really liking the idea of having their offices here, well particularly his office. He decided to tell Fynn that on his back to his office, he pulled up his communicator to call James and tell him the news. Looking at it he saw that there were several messages from James. Wondering what that was all about, he called James.
"Hey James, what's up?"
"Where have you been the last couple of hours? I've been trying to reach you"
"I was in a meeting with Mr FynnMcscrap regarding renting space for us, sorry didn't noticed you were calling, I set the communicator to private mode."
"Well the Junkers in Inverness has approved your request of installing the docking modules on our ship and wants to know when can we get her to their station"
"Well that's good news indeed, let me wrap things up here so I can go with the ship to Inverness."
"Ok then William, let me set up our offices at Texas too if that's the case."
"Thanks James and while you at it, Fynn wants us to meet their board of directors in Texas so might as well handle that too. "
James sighed, "Ok, well set me up with the meet and let me know when and where."
"No problem James, I will let you know as soon as I talked to Fynn."
Walker went straight to Fynn's office, thankful that he was still there
"Hey Fynn? got so caught up with talking to some of your people here I didn't know several hours have already passed. Some even told me about ghost stations around these parts, really interesting.
"Anyway, something came up, we got the deal on installing a docking module on ship and I have to accompany in to a Junker station in Inverness, So would you mind if I sent my assistant James David instead? He is already in Texas setting up our branch office there. If you can send him an communication re when and where to meet Mr. Tukker to finalize our deal on renting a space on your base. I really would love to make this place a part of our home."
Fine with me Mr Walker. Or may I call you William ?
I will get the workers to construction your office and the storage sections as you specified, that will not take long.
May I welcome you to the Haven again ?
We will imediately see to it that the dock is outfitted to care for your Liner and the few points we noticed will be speedily fixed to accomodate your needs. I already have sent notice to Mr. Tukker and he awaits your Partner any time he can pass by planetside.
This will be a great asset to the Haven and I look forward to working with you !
You and your Partner are welcome at our Offices anytime, we have prepared all necesary papers for you to check or sign and would like to invite you for a short celebration too.
We would very much appreciate a social meeting and would like to evaluate and discuss further possibilities and oportunities of mutual interest.
We do value your humanitarian and philanthrophic mission and see some options to help you while still forwarding our own more economic viewpoint.
Till then the Board of Trustees offers to invite your Partner to join us in backoffice coordination to ensure that Mr. McScrap and you can continue to deal with day to day buisness.
Phileas O. Tukker
Prime Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
James finally found the offices of Tinker's Haven in Houston. Knocked at the door and entered.
"Hi, My name is James David? I'm with SIrius Relief Organization and I believe Mr. Tukker is expecting me."
James was ushered to the office Prime Secretary of the Board of Trustees. He sat down on one of the chairs and began talking to Mr. Tukker
"Hello Mr. Tukker? I'm James David, Partner of William Walker, I came here today hoping we could finalize our agreement with regards to usage of space at Tinker's Haven? Sorry for the delays but work has been hectic with the organization lately and it seems that William is very busy outfitting our ship for a relief trip his been planning for weeks, I hope you understand."
"Apologies if I seem to be rushing you Mr Tukker but with William getting requests and donations everywhere, we really need to finalize this so we could start helping people. Please let me know what else do we need."
