NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO no.
why punish everyone.
Pirating would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo bad.
Finding people would be SOOOoooOooOOoOoOooOoooOoOOOoo bad.
Spying would be TOOOOoOOoOooOOOOooO easy.
and yeah basically why are you so upset someone knows where you are in a general area? so what?
I think its quite balanced.
What? Next we are going to ask LPI to remove their net thing?

only on the chat list, the change shall take place
and ofc on the player online list on the forum
The player list system takes the name directly from the system name. So only if you name every system ?????, it will also appear like that on the playerlist. I am not aware of any solution that could circumvent this.
Jumpgate names are independent from that, and they don't take their name from the direction they're heading. I could give a jumpgate in Kusari the name "Omicron Kappa Jumphole" and could direct it to Cambridge, so it would be possible for the gates and holes to keep their label.

That's what the game would be like without the playerlist.
...what?
try reading with your eyes closed. -.-
Expanding upon what I said: You don't know where anything is. You know it's there, but you just can't find it because you're blind.
The map will still be there.
You WONT know where any ship is.
thus good luck with RP interactions that are planned.
Has anyone ever played DayZ? You have a map but you don't know where anyone is. And its OK for that game because the map is small and relatively flat and there are choke points to survive. Not this game. This game is 3D all the way.
I don't think I have something to say that hasn't been said already. It would make it very hard to find people to interact with.
Also, it's not something only a selected group of people can use. It is available to everyone and I see no problem with it. But with Sirius this big, and ~100 players at peak hours - it would kill the server even more.

You've completely missed the point of an analogy.
Also, why are you even arguing about this? lol.
