Some people require the player list and locations of stuff. I mean for one an example is Core invading Iota, rather then having our own alert system, we rely on players to notify us via skype and teamspeak.
Not to mention with the player list, it prevents people from just going off plain and AFKing for hours on end for activity, kinda like how I had to help a SCRA player track down a SCRA GB who AFK'ed and tried to log time for his ship just for activity which is just not...meh
Another thing to note the player list is also a good tool so other players will know when to log for RP, such as an event that needs multiple systems. An example I can use was that I was waiting for a special RP time and I didn't even know that said player was logged, thanks to the player list I knew it was time to log and went for the RP which thanks to the list, I found the player and was able to RP with them.

This is highly normal it won't ever stop to be honest, it won't stop for a long time still. Back then players used to log convoys and when people saw them, logged counter strikes against them which generated activity for both parties and RP to.
Not to mention if you see an enemy in your home system, your going to log to remove them like your suppose to and..guess what? defend your home system.

No..it really won't...patrols take time and to be quiet honest, not everyone on this server has 100+ hours a week to log. Some of use have only a chance to log for about 2 hours and I know personally they would quit disco if they had to search for stuff to do within those two hours. And to make it worse, if those search's came up useless, people would just start leaving.
Just gonna chip in here, the Freeworlds Tides of War mod has done this. In place of location, the list displays faction. I quite like it. Also, it works quite well despite their servers being pretty much dead (saw 6 people online at once one time omg!) although to be fair they have systems designed to be the front line in their little war ingame, so it's not too hard to find enemies, more so because they have a range of 100k on their target list. My point stands however that this idea is not invalid at all, at least in my opinion.
Another system they have up is that you can see people who are within 20k of a solar (base/planet/object in space etc) so it isn't super hard to find people even without the player list. It works kind of like the player list on the forum.
so if things go like this in game, pirate keep going round and round for 3-4 hours or 6-7 hours then get tired and went away to their beds, I think then fun will be over
