Vaelin would offer but a slight smile as Thomas would speak at first, making mention of his lack of a nose to some degree although he restrained himself from making any comment toward it. His attention shifted off Thomas for a moment while he looked about the ship and then returned his gaze back.
“Humans often will adapt to things as times go on despite how things might be at first.” He looked across to the other side of the ship though and was reluctant to share anything for a moment before speaking.
“I use to believe that the Order was a force that was entirely humanitarian, looking to improve it as a whole, over the years though, I have seen it just become a paramilitary, fighting against the bounty hunters more than the nomads – not that they could control anything in relation to the guilds greed, but the few times I went out in search of nomads, it was typically done alone. Back then my perception of what the nomads were, were clouded by the hate of those who served the order.”
He paused for a moment looking to Thomas. “I would prefer not to have the same circumstance happen once again.”
The ship was on its way by now. the conversation passing time between points.
"Humanity offers too many forces against itself to be a true threat anymore... Despite what Ive found out about the Bounty hunters being coerced as a weapon against the divines enemies... I think it was more human nature then any clandestine effort. Everything is flawed in this so called.. struggle to survive. Yet in every successful survival situation it takes all parties cooperating to be successful in the first place."
There was a momentary bump as the ship entered a jumphole.
Vaelin merely offered a nod “Nothing is ever perfect, even to us, the nomads have their flaws despite their many positive attributes, but that’s a subject more of opinion – in time the humans will band together, I think that they just need someone they can fight… otherwise they just subjected themselves into that position.”
With the bump he raised his head up slightly before speaking once more. “If I might ask, what can I expect in what we are about to do – going blind into things are unfavorable to me.”
"Understandably... Well stick you in a metaphase medical scanner and get a full body image. and then use our technology to go over the results. The scan takes ten minutes. and analysis can take a day. Well make sure your not on malta long enough to get aphased to cardamine."
he thought for a moment.
"It really is up to the results to see whats in... there... and discovering whatever implants or structures exist and their purpose. and you can decide from there. Technically you could go right after the scan but then that would mean youd have to get shoved in the cargo compartment of my rapier..."
He lofted a brow to what Thomas said and this would seem to not so much compute with him. “A full body scan? I know I am not infested - my ships internal security had protocols to put me down if I had been, there was a time when I was ‘brainwashed’ before, having the past repeat itself is a unpleasant continuance.”
Vaelin would look at him for a moment and it seemed he was uncomfortable with the idea of a medical scanner, reasons which were related into his past. There was a subtle note of greater intensity become apparent in his posture. “I have no augmentations - if it was a medical scanner then being on my Osiris would have served a purpose as it does have its own medical facilities, which I am sure are less standard then typical other organization crafts.” He was resistant to the idea of the scanner.
"Its more then meat were looking into. Its your life force we use to determine a great many things. Indeed any old MRI based magnetic imaging can show implants tumors and wiggly things you don't recall. But Orin is the only one who can see the data and comprehend it on those levels. If.. I had stayed a medic and became a doctor i would too. But i went down a far more philosophical and spiritual path."
He showed him a sample report on a tablet.
"This is a normal result typical human. " He fliped the image labaeled "Freaky Thomas".
"This one is mine. and hopefully your somewhere inbetween the rest of the data is discarded. More or less its our version of "soul" photography and even the most squeaky clean brainwashing leaves indelible stains. At least this way we can make sure you wont walk into a sunbucks tear off your pants and explode."
Vaelin looked at the diagram that was shown with a lofted brow, the changes were really easy to notice so he didn’t need to look at it for long to get the idea, he wringed his hands together tensely and shook his head while ushering out a soft sigh.
“So what your saying is the manipulation of the nomads stuff on my brain has affected my soul? That’s less then fantastic to hear about in any philosophical term, no offense - as for your sunbucks comment, I don’t drink coffee nor do I have the urge to tear my pants off.”
It took a moment more before Vaelin would move to set his hands into his coat pockets and he looked towards the door way to the cockpit wondering how long was left until they would come to the intended destination.
“Saturnia, with what I said to her and such - is it possible that I would still serve be retain the mantle of who I am and my intentions? I understand that they would probably have a lack of trust, I would just like to know what possibilities might steam from this.”
He thought about the possibilities. He mulled the experiences he had seen.
"Everyone is different. There are watchers, and warriors, and pieces of us throughout all of this. What choose to empower about ourselves seems to determin what happens around ourselves.. Like the light wolf and dark wolf."
He rememberd..
"When I awoke... on the planet refuge within the seneca nebula.. I thought I was in purgatory.. but after I found peace there with the wildlife and forces of nature there A ship came, a morph that took me from there and delivered me to one of the refuges of the das wilde... I was fearful because... even rumors of the wilde to malta was that they were relentless as the divine were. To be feared.. but amongst the many there I was amongst family.
I finally came to one of the.. stronger personalities there.. we had a conversation. and it came to the subject of purpose. I admitted that I had always found a purpose in spirituality and peace... helping others find it He nodded. He said in turn that he already have found peace and purpose that it throbbed through him as the light throbbed through all his brothers. "
He looked to vealin considering him.
"I sense much fear in you. But it should not be what drives you. fuels your decisions.. its a human concept humanities ultimate weakness. In my own path through fear I found that if there was another perpose that I were to follow in regaurds to the divine and the share I would feel it and act. If you dont.. then your fullfilling yourself in their eyes. at least for now.
If your aligned with who you are totally.. you are in peace at the source persay.. and sometimes that makes the chattery mind go crazy.. but its just the mind. It needs someone to hold up a giant sign in space and say Go here. do this. Its not written in the sky. Its written within."
Vaelin gave a nod to the note of information about the expected time to be landing although it didn’t stop his fidgeting.
“I do believe I spoke of that concept to the Saturnia, as I told them I use both - not just light or dark but light and dark, I do not wish for my darker variant to gain the better hold as that would be inevitably self-damaging.”
With Thomas continuing on his attention turned to the other two once again and finally he closed his hands into fists.
“The degree of emotion in words is more often than not up to the perception of the person as the concept is only as far taken as their knowledge of said feelings. You call this fear, I call it worry and nervousness. Fear is a totally different ball game, more align the subjects of terror, but just the lesser variant of it.”
He took a moment to think on Tomas last words before seeking to reply.
“There is a difference between outside alteration and then genuine purpose - my mind is less so needing a sign as it needs its freedom, I don’t do completely well with overbearing authority nor with those that would seek to corrupt me at my core - what I believe has been done compromises the later. Inadvertently, as Saturnia said, the real me would seek to come to the surface.”
The dromedary was always hailed as a smooth lander. Much to the surprise of those who've owned the ship 5th and even 6th hand this reputation had always held.. usually if it was more rough then a bump youve crashed.
The pressuriser on the cabin blinks and sounded pressure plays about the ears as the cargo door and ramp open and extended.
The area was rural olive colored grasses and cardamine beginning to sprout in fields and gardens unto the horizon. Past the landing area there was a path through a small compound of buildings leading to an immense black pyramid. ...Someone was cooking sausage... the smell immediately entered as the doors opened.
"Ohh Someones got my fire pit going... Oh my.. Well lets get the business out of the way first and we will see what everyone's up to.. The room we wants is in the giant black pyramid."
