Although it might be a nicer way to deal with whatever problem arose - very soon you can really rename the server to "DiscoveryGC RP 24/7 admission to practice law required" because due to such IDs the game really is not very newbie friendly. Even i would have to double check my ID regularly to ensure not to violate any special case rule of the ID. Add that to the rather asymetric design of IDs (meaning: you can be attacked by people that cannot be attacked by you) and you get an environment that really is overcomplicated for a lot of people that do not really mean much harm.
[referring to the proposed ID text substitute and Garrets positive comment about it]
It might be easier for the veterans who just have to remember bit by bit what changed - but a real newbie is likely to fall into the "violated ID rules" trap - and the Administration is not really known (too well) for giving a friendly warning for first time offenders. (at least not publicly - no clue if you guys do it in PMs to newbies)
edit:
currently - in order not to get sanctioned it is not sufficient to know the official rules. Those are often too vague and open for interpretation. to be safe - you also have to remember at least some key sanctions that give you an idea of what each rule extends to.
And while "common sense" gets you pretty far - we cannot assume that common sense is the same for everyone alike. Furthermore you have to kind of remember a ton of unwritten rules to avoid clashing with the veteran community and be publicly stoned.
All the while the people demand the server to revitalize and attract new people.

Robbing that LPI freighter running donuts and coffee? Dubious, but possible. Demanding 30 million from an LNS Battlecruiser or you drop a Nova storm on him? Yeah, not possible or logical. This affects the least amount of change while still leaving every other option open. Also, trying to rob the guy coming to kill you is kind of dumb, as is trying to rob the Sirius Police, I mean, Order. Exact ID exemptions can be discussed, though.
Thoughts?
I like that suggestion. Nice job with that.
This would be perfect. Because right now. A Pirate ID'd group was moving to intercept an IMG| convoy, and IMG| logged a fighter that just kept CDing us so the transports could reach a docking point before we arrived to intercept. Complete bollocks that we can't shoot that CDing fighter.

With this change what would be stopping them from logging an indie police char of the house they are in and doing the same thing?
Though ofc you won't end up getting sanctioned for shooting someone that constantly CD's you as long as you tell them to stop and let them know that if they do not stop interfering in your affairs in such a manner you are liable to blow a hole into them. (I say this from experience of myself and other people engaging others that are constantly CDing you to harass you and how there have been a lack of sanction reports due to this). Just as a note on this matter, if you look at rule 5.1 it is clearly there to stop this scenario and whilst rule 5 itself only refers to players of level 29 and under, realistically anyone that is doing this could be shot down without fear of being sanctioned.

And that gives enough time for the convoy to proceed through, to the nearest base. There were even FL ID ships just standing there and cd'ing everyone when they went after the transports. gg well played. lol, the rule was updated and that same day, gets exploited. xddddddd

Thanks. I have a minor edit to avoid some confusion that was previously pointed out about the wording.

We should be clear that the Pirate ID flying a Freighter/Transport/Liner doesn't make the exemption, the other ID does.

We will implement this suggestion into the Pirate ID.
Note that guys without account on forums don't know that e.g. Nagano isn't Tau Border Worlds, because in game that system figures as Tau Border World, not Kusari System - as someone mentioned newbies.
I like the new Pirate ID suggestion, it's way better than the other one.
What about my Grizzly? You mean those pierats can still rob me of my coffee and donuts? Not that I even care if they try, that'd just give me the clear to attack them. I actually don't understand the need for this rule. If a pirate wants to attack a law enforcer then they just can say "Dun loike yaou, yer off to Davey Jones". What's so bad about demanding cash? Granted, most won't pay but I have paid my way out of situations I could not possibly win. The fact that I have a LPI freighter is irrelevant really because I could care less, as a player, if a pirate demands money from me so long as its not some "2mrdai" nonsense.
