So, I mean, since those behind this proposal would rather ignore my post rather than address it, can I at least put in a Player Request of my own for a Grande Maréchale ID, a Foreign Legionnaire ID, and an Opportunistic Freebooting Chrysanthemum ID for three of my top characters? I feel that the standard roleplay just doesn't cut it any more, you know? People need to know right away that they're dealing with some Top-Quality Roleplay™ when I roll up. After all, I don't have the time to waste sitting around showing them it, now, do I? I've got a prearranged scripted event to go play out with four of my mates in Omicron Lost.
Plus, having such a thing would be so very helpful for identification. Like Finn says; people need to see my characters as the distinguished, unique people that I've crafted; certainly not as some mere 'Gallic Royal Navy' or 'indie GC'. It'd allow for more RP; don't you see? People need to see that my characters are special, or else they might not care! Komachi is a freebooter and space princess who just happens to come from Ainu! Like an Ainuian Researcher, I can't be expected to use an Ainuian ID, now, can I? See the difference?
Having thought long and hard on the issue, I now firmly believe that this is the way forwards for Discovery. No more shall Hardcore Roleplayers™ (such as myself, naturally - my roleplay is the Cabernet Sauvignon to the commoner's Coca Cola™, if I do say so myself) be hampered by the restrictions and fetters of the common man's ID. Finally, the recognition my highly-acclaimed roleplay deserves may soon be possible!
p.s. down with phoenix i hate zoners
p.p.s i also hate pvp and really love words the more the merrier i always say hahaha

Your british is showing. Cover it up man, it's pretty indecent.
Jokes aside, I'll have to concur with Omicega's sentiments on this, you hardly need an ID for Researcher...and since i was there for the long years it was actually in effect, I know that it was used mostly as a passing curiosity, and never seriously by any group.

No, you will be complaining about something else by that point
Why all the butt hurt about the ID, the only mistake I see is that Drrobe posted about it instead of an admin that everyone already hates

I generally dislike the idea of it being unlimited cargo and how it's SRP, if it's gonna have a special ability or whatnot, why not make it a superexpensive ID? like 700 mill for the ID or something - SRP's don't always go through, and you have to do months upon months of writing for SRP, which people don't have the time for, or they can't write "pro stories"
An SRP request having increased standards than the simple English engagement message does not automatically imply that any non-SRP roleplay is inferior. It acts merely as a filter to keep only those with genuine interest and good intentions in.
It also is not a mythical e-peen prolongation device. Some players are okay with building their roleplay within the allowances that a normal ID may provide, and others could expand theirs by requesting an unusual setup (i.e. a battleship when your ID can only fly cruisers maximum).
Getting an approved SRP also does not require you to write a bestseller that makes the entire world name their unborn child after you.
The researcher ID is something to pursue if you attach certain gameplay elements to it. Otherwise, from a pure gameplay aspect the Spec Ops ID would probably work just fine. On the other hand, it makes dealing with other players easier. From the mental side, the researcher label is something that shows the other player that you are not going to insta them and immediately feel more open to RP. A similar experience can be observed when flying around with K'Hara ID compared to Nomad Trial ID, whereas with the latter players appear to be less likely to attack you preemptively.
Players who focus solely on roleplay that does not involve PvP (which is what is described when talking about "Hardcore RPers", not quality or quantity of ones roleplay) can acquire this neat little perk with less restrictions. Abiding to lazy players who feel entitled to have any toy on the server without having to work for it is not something I would recommend, so I greatly welcome giving the researcher ID lots of allowances in return for making it SRP only.

I haven't got a problem with Drrobe. Researcher ID sounds fun. Scannable rewards sounds awesome. Ambiguous SRP standards don't sound cool though. I don't see why it's not open use and people send in 1.2 sanctions for abuse. That way everyone gets access and if you act like a douchebag you lose the privilege.

Like the Phoenix ID and the Order Primary Fleet ID, they are just the same!! And have the same leader!! (and that's not you, sorry)
By the way, you just broke this server rule (again):
2.1 All posts must be in readable English
You mean USI and OSI haven't merged yet? They have pretty similar reputation charts, ships, routes, etc.

It's almost like you're suggesting anyone without an SRP doesn't have good intentions or a genuine interest. Maybe it doesn't sprout a magical e-peen, but there is definitely some allusion of grandeur afforded to SRPs. It's a shame that we attach a 250 million powermine/powertrade in order to make sure people have been on the server long enough, but then also add a few months of character existence into the equation to make sure it's around for long enough. It definitely filters out who can make money and who can't be bothered grinding.
You're suggesting a semi-metagaming sort of roleplay where people scan IDs before deciding to interact?
The biggest issue I could see about making this kind of ID open use is that with so much abuse, and there WOULD be abuse- Much more than there'd be actual usage for it; It'd flood the admins with so many unnecessary and stupid reasons to ban, sanction and waste time that could be spent doing something worth while.
Like deciding that maybe for the Researcher SRP, there is no need to pay the 250 mil, just provide a solid story and keep a certain level of RP going. Yes?
Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.
