Excuse me jumping on your forum guys. I'm just after some information regarding privateers and ships. I was considering a privateer flying a pilgrim liner but was unsure how it would be received by BAF, as the vessel is listed unlawful. I did notice that the privateer ID allows for generic unlawful ships though. I think the ship well suited to the privateer role, more so than most, but I though I would check in advance as to whether it would cause issues.
Also, is there a naming convention for privateers as there is for BAF ships? I've noted a couple with the HMS prefix. Is this the norm for a privateer vessel? Seems a bit odd to me as the vessel is not really a warship of the armed services.
Last question. Am I required to register as a privateer? I had a quick scan over your forum but only saw the cap ship registry.
Thanks in advance for any response.
I'll answer your question. Not sure where this was posted before the move, so it may have been the wrong place, but no matter.
Firstly, I'm not sure where you got that about the Pilgrim Liner, becasuse if you check the laws for The Kingdom of Bretonia, specifically section 3.13, you'll find that the Pilgrim Liner is NOT listed as an illegal vessel. Therefore, the Pilgrim Liner's status is legal. If you mean server rules wise, then (whilst still taking that into account) just worry about the inRP laws for the house in this instance.
Kingdom of Bretonia's Laws Wrote:3.13 - Ships Manufactured by Hostile Nations
Anyone found flying ships produced by Bretonia's enemies will be halted and questioned about their activities. Mere possession of such a ship without corresponding ID papers constitutes as sufficient grounds for fines, prosecution or arrest. Vessels acting in contravention of this order will face a minimum fine of 2,000,000 credits and immediate expulsion from Bretonian borders or impounding. Banned ship lines include:
Corsair ships
Gaian ships
Gallic Military ships
Gallic civilian ships (unless flown by The Council)
Hogosha/Farmers Alliance ships (unless flown by Kusari Exiles)
Pirate Transport and Train (unless flown by friendly, allied or Junker entities)
As for naming prefixes, you can use the prefix of HMS, as it's more a standard for all of Bretonia's warships, rather than just the Armed Forces (BAF, BPA, BIS). Personally, I wouldn't, but if you want to, your certainly within your rights to use it.
Lastly, no. There is no registry, however if you wish to sign up to the QCP, you'll find their recruitment HERE, though they are a little dead right now and I'm unable to locate my leader for that little rag tag bunch.
I hope that clears up the questions you had. Feel free to poke me on skype if you have anything else to ask or discuss (my skype is alphawolf215)
Thanks, that's a concise response. I appreciate it. I did think about QCP but they don't really seem active as you say. A shame that, because I like the cut of their jib. Anyway, I have decided to go with a shire transport for now. It just feels a little more Bretonian. I know it lacks CD/CM but it's mostly for RP, not PvP. At least now I know that the pilgrim is an option should I decided to switch. Again, much appreciated.
