I know you guys said no more scifi movie/series ships but this might give you some ideas xing. it's from space above and beyond, and sort of looks fl'ish.

Down with that disgusting SW ship pretending to be a Liberty carrier.

Even in the present form, Xing's work gets my vote.

Why? because it looks like a Liberty *SHIP*. They have a tendency to build stuff mimicking old stuff. The dreadnough looks like a ship, so I'd expect a carrier to resemble...

A carrier. Especially a Nimitz-class, which I do believe is most symbolic.

Anyway I love the current design.. On carriers, bridge is ALWAYS on
the side so I can't see any reason why should he move it to the middle..
Symmetry is unnecessary here.. Just texture it and it will look awesome.. :)

I'll begin re-work on the bridge, but I really need idea. the original concept was to take it from a liberty dread, but it doesnt fit well, the thing seems to be made for a submarine like thip, not a carrier vessel...

Yeah... the current bridge is kind of small. Why not take some cues from the Star Destroyer and make it go across most of the ship?

EDIT: I mean side-to-side across, not up-down.

Make it smaller. Currently, everything from Liberty is a lot smaller then the rest of the houses.

Anyways, i have always been a sucker for the 'Boat in Space' concept. Keep up the good work!

I actually like it, I like how it resembles a Naval Carrier,
I could SO totally see launching and landing on that thing!
I see why everyone doesn't like the deck, but I think that's one of the things that makes it really cool!

The front kinda looks like the Tiger's Claw from the first Wing Commander. The only thing I see wrong is how do you plan to possition turrets so it gets a good field of fire. Looks like it would have a few blind spots above or below. If we could have functioning carriers in FL it would be perfect.

Keep in mind, that space ships dont need a runway. They can stop on the spot.
Take a look at Homeworld 1/2 and Nexus: Jupiter Incident.
Watch BSG.

I'll have to agree it looks too much like a boat with rockets. Thats not a bad thing, alot of Anime does that and its pretty sweet, but it doesnt seem to fit the freelancer universe.

vigilance, technically they WOULD need a runway. The reason is momentum and inertia. A ship is space doesn't just "stop", they keep floating forwards at whatever speed they were traveling at when the engines were cut. However, since this is Freelancer physics we're discussing, no, they don't really need one.

IMO, it looks awesome.
