DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP:AP-609 "Mako" Core Battleship CLASS: Battleship STRENGTHS: ---- Effective against enemy battleships. WEAKNESSES: ----Smaller size demands specialized tactics. Easily taken out at CQB by heavier battleships. COMPLEMENT: 300 DESCRIPTION
Introduced over a decade ago via Liberty shipyards, the construction of the first Core Battleship became a symbol of the faction's rising influence. Originally just a loose association of bounty hunters bold enough to tackle contracts in the Omicrons, the Core grew into a rich and powerful paramilitary faction. The new Core Battleships are intended to operate in remote Edge Worlds systems, defending station construction sites and spearheading assaults into uncharted deep space.
It has already proven to be a powerful and reliable ship, capable of holding it's own in any battle, and providing the backbone of the Core's grand fleet. It combines significant firepower with compact agility in an extremely versatile warship.
DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP:AP-540 "Bullhead" Core Battlecruiser CLASS: Battlecruiser STRENGTHS: ---- Highly effective against enemy capital ships. WEAKNESSES: ----Large side profile. Highly susceptible to bomber craft. COMPLEMENT: 180 DESCRIPTION
An advanced and heavily-reinforced variant of the Core Destroyer, the Bullhead class battlecruiser was the first capital ship designed and built exclusively by the Core and APM. It was originally intended to make up for the Thresher class destroyer's lack of firepower, which often left early Core fleets out-gunned. As such, it focuses entirely on providing extreme offensive firepower, and when left unchecked on the battlefield will cause havoc among enemy capital ships. This ship's hull was later redesigned to withstand the fire of heavy battleship weaponry, making it a dangerous long-range vessel against enemy battleships. However, due to its reduced manoeuvrability, the Battlecruiser can be vulnerable to enemy bombers, and so it rarely takes to the battlefield without its own anti-bomber escorts.
The Bullhead is used for major combat deployments that involve countering enemy capital ships where agility is a necessity. The Bullhead is also used for recon and exploration and it is armed with advanced radar and scanning technologies to fulfil that purpose.
DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP: AP-430 "Thresher" Core Destroyer CLASS: Cruiser (Destroyer) STRENGTHS: ---- Greatly efficient as anti-battleship unit. WEAKNESSES: ---- Poor performance against heavier vessels of the same class. COMPLEMENT: 120 DESCRIPTION
When the Core first started to operate in the Edge Worlds, they encountered unexpected hardships - even the most advanced Hammerheads were unable to survive in such a hostile environment. Because of the enormous potential profits, they invested into developing a new Destroyer-class ship. The first capital ships of the Core, the Thresher class destroyers were first constructed under contract by Deep Space Engineering in their Liberty shipyards. However, once the Core established their own construction facilities, production of these ships became exclusive to Core shipyards, hidden deep within the Omega and Omicron systems and produced by AP Manufacturing. With their new destroyers, the Core felt much more confident among their Nomad, Corsair and Order enemies, being able to hunt Nomads and even fulfil bounty contracts (as BHG Core) against the Corsairs in the most remote parts of known space.
Though the Thresher class destroyers have undergone numerous refits and modifications since they were first produced, they remain in service as agile and flexible support ships, a role at which they excel.
The Orca is a more recent development of AP Manufacturing. Supplementing the ageing "Bottlenose" light gunship model, this gunboat was developed to offer a more flexible weapons platform capable of tackling both anti-fighter and anti-capital duty depending on its loadout. Its overcharged forward cannon helps it punch out more damage than most other ships of the same size. Usually accompanied by a swarm of fighters, the Orca is a force to be reckoned with.
DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP:AP-239 "Sturgeon" APM Gunship CLASS: Gunship STRENGTHS: ---- Very small profile, easily evades enemy fire. WEAKNESSES: ---- Enemy fire that is not evaded might be fatal. COMPLEMENT: 3-4 DESCRIPTION
Compact and efficient, this ship was the first gunboat-class warship developed by AP Manufacturing. In recent decades, most ships of this type have been replaced by the heavier and more efficient Orca Gunboat. However, the Gunship is still used in some BHG and Core missions, including escorting convoys through areas where strong anti-fighter defense is crucial for survival.
DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP:Battleship Athena CLASS: Battleship STRENGTHS: ---- One of the most advanced ships in the Core's fleet. WEAKNESSES: ----None COMPLEMENT: 300 DESCRIPTION
Flying as the flagship of the Core, the WV-Athena is a vessel etched in Core history and is considered holy by its crew and those fortunate to pilot it. Rumoured to actually be the original and the very first Mako battleship built by the Core, the Athena has been on countless military operations throughout Core history. Often, it has been piloted by famous Guildmasters such as DeVirgo, Daniels, Varrus, Kyras, Stoat, Nodtviet, Raven and even Guildmaster Athenian Graves himself.
The Athena attempted to fight in the Battle of Minor, however it was stranded on the other side of the Nomad fleet and was stuck in Delta, as it was undergoing repairs at the time and was a latecomer to the battle. Most recently it did however fully partake in the Battle of Nauru, spearheading the charge towards Yaren as it laid waste to the Corsairs in its path.
Whilst throughout the ages it has had to take many visits to Alabama Shipyard for repairs, the Athena has continuously prevailed through the hardships it faces. Powered by sheer tenacity, determination and will, the Athena stands undaunted in the face of its enemies and continues to spear-head the Cores conquest as a living legend.
DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP:Battleship Ehrgeiz CLASS: Battleship STRENGTHS: ---- More agile than enemy battleships WEAKNESSES: ----Less armored than enemy battleships COMPLEMENT: 255 DESCRIPTION
Established in 819 A.S. by Guildkeeper Daniels, Battlegroup #009 or “Ehrgeiz”, as it later came to be known was originally formed as a nimble attack wing and named after it’s flagship, Destroyer Ehrgeiz. Without an outstanding service record and unmatched kill count during the construction of Dagger Station, “Ehrgeiz” cemented their place in the Omega-55 system. Their unprecedented ruthlessness was crucial for securing the area during that period. However, in 823 A.S. they went missing. Rumors are, the entirety of the Battlegroup got obliterated in an ambush. Not even a single ship managed to escape and the assailants, much like the truth, are still unknown, to this day. However, in 824 A.S. Battleship Ehrgeiz had just rolled out of Alabama Shipyard and the Battlegroup was made a new. With Battleship Perditrix backing it up alongside a whole lot of fast movers, it’s back to it’s original modus operandi.
Two active R&D crews are kept on the flagship and are working around the clock on alien relics retrieved from Absconsum.
Gabrielle Daniels closely oversees the progress from her new position as Battleship Ehrgeiz’ XO.
Guildkeeper Jack Daniels remains in close proximity and that means his own flagship is close by. Many believe the Perditrix is the most advanced Core Mako in Sirius, surpassing other conventional warships by a large margin. This is exactly why Daniels used it’s blueprints and expremental technology to design the Ehrgeiz.
Apart from being Perditrix’s “Twin Sister” it was specifically built for Gabrielle Daniels.
However, due to unforeseen consequences, it was redeployed as Flagship of the program. The difference between the Ehrgeiz and Perditrix is mostly the crew.
While Perditrix is ran by automated crew members (A.C.M.), Ehrgeiz’s “staff” is composed of 94.8% biological lifeforms, or humans, most of them augmented for the job.
It features the same prototype drive core and advanced Azurite tech. The Ehrgeiz sacrifices some offensive capabilities in exchange for state of the drive core and engines and an absolutely massive CiC deck. In turn, this allows the XO to coordinate a system wide offensive from a mobile platform with advanced stealth tech. It was designed with the thought of being able to command the entire Core fleet on the go.
The Ehrgeiz participated in almost all Core operations in the Omegas and had it's fair share of action in the Omicrons too. Present on the original attack on Freeport 11 and later, the defense of Freeport 11, it suffered minimal damage, thanks to it's stealth tech and hyperspace capabilities. It's most recent feat was a rescue operation. Under the command of Gabrielle Daniels, the ship provided heavy suppressing fire against a heavily fortified malfunctioning defense grid, successfully enabling the Skadi to execute a cunning evac sweep and rescue Nova Hawken.
The Ehrgeiz was transferred to the Bretonia Armed Forces, in exchange for the Caesar.
DOSSIER ENTRY SHIP:Carrier Caesar CLASS: "Invincible" Class Bretonia Carrier STRENGTHS: ---- Unique to the Omicrons, enemy battleships are at tactical disadvantage WEAKNESSES: ----Slower and more likely to be targetted by bombers. COMPLEMENT: 405 DESCRIPTION
The Caesar is the most recent addition to the Core's increasingly distinctive collection of warships. It was acquired directly from Bretonia's Armed forces, in return for Core's assistance and pacification of Omega-3, as well as Battleship Ehrgeiz. It was swiftly retrofitted by the APM and it was rushed into service, faster than humanly possible. It's main objective is to act as a mobile base of operations throughout the Omicrons and Omegas and when needed, dish out unmatched amounts of destruction upon any who oppose the Core & the APM.
Caesar's armament is highly experimental and includes technology designed by Dr. Damien Mekal, namely, the Ballista. An antimatter accelerator of unmatched power and simplicity, this weapon is yet to enter mass production. After the retrofit, the carrier had it's cargo space reduced in favor of extra docking bays. Specialized boarding parties and ships are present on the vessel at all times, ready to wreak havoc on anything that comes in their way, be it ship, station or planetside installations.
When it's not on a long range missions, the Caesar can be seen orbiting Planet Nauru, vigilantly watching over the APM's assets on the surface and in space. Only the highest ranked Core members are allowed onboard the hulking Bretonian Beast. given it's exclusivity and importance for all long range Core operations. Being the only carrier, it is usually escorted by at least one Mako and several smaller crafts.
The Immolator was built using the original designs of the Ehrgeiz. Of course, changes were made. It's frontal armor was severely reinforced, as to make the ship a viable option for full on assault. While the Core rarely meets their enemy head on, sometimes, this tactic is employed, depending on the situation at hand.
The rest of the Mako itself is standard issue. Being one of the more frequently used warship, it was meant to be relatively cheaper to fix and it's more advanced counterparts. Currently on station in Omega-55, tasked with protecting Dagger station and acting as a massive vibe check for all who dare attack both the station and core patrols in the Omegas.
The Ehrgeiz was transferred to the Bretonia Armed Forces, in exchange for the Caesar.
