Hey there, been a long time since I've been here but I wanted to get back in again.
Since I last played, I built a new PC with W10 on it. I still have my old computer that has FL installed but it has been relegated to living room media center duty.
Anyway, my physical copy of FL is long gone and I've kept an ISO on my old PC for many years. It has been used to install FL on that computer several times. Now, I copy the file over to the new computer and try to mount the image using Microsoft's new (and only option) mounting utility. I click the mount button for the ISO and it says the data is corrupted....EH?
I try mounting the ISO over the network directly from the old PC but I get the same problem (so the file transfer didn't fail).
It is possible the file could have been corrupted. The hard drive on that old PC is a busy place, being a DVR with 70 episodes of Jeopardy on it. Before I go hunting for a new image, I want to know if this is just a problem with Windows 10. Has anyone tried to doing a fresh install of Freelancer in W10 from a mounted ISO? Would I have better luck if I just burn the image?
(just realized I'd need to remove the DVD drive from the old PC and put it in the new one if I'm going to use a disc, lol. since when did physical drives become an after thought)
I installed both Freelancer and Discovery on Windows 10 using an ISO and it worked fine. It is possible that your ISO got broken somehow, so I'd go hunt for a new one if I was you.
