But reasoning that Nomads need infinite cloak because everyone piles up when it happens to anyone in hostile territory is stupid. Keepers were thriving without cloaking device in the first place. And now KHara is afraid to be piled up so they just stay cloaked?
A little thing why rewriting the Nomads into "gods" was a bad thing to do ...
In Vanilla - the Nomads, the jelly-left-overs of the DK ... are indeed quite good at stuff like cloaking, hiding, coercing, influencing and all the stuff THAT DOES NOT INVOLVE BIG WEAPONS. It is clearly stated in the original lore of the Nomads .. that their peaceful existence has NOT urged them to develop weapons, skill or even interest in warfare.
The humans however have - according to the Freelancer lore - been so much at war with each other that they cannot even remember why they shoot each other. In the original lore it it stated that the humans could EASILY steamroll the nomads in a direct confrontation - because the Nomads do not have the capability to defend themselfs. No shields, pretty weak weapons - and no infrastructure. The humans are aggressively taking the Nomad space.
In Vanilla - it makes 100% sense that the Nomads actually DO have infinite cloaks. They are good at hiding and staying "invisibly" in the background.
To FIGHT - they exclusively created THE WILD - that make use of human tech - with their big weapons and fearsome aggressiveness. But the Nomad cloaks do not work on the Wild ships ... so the Wild have short term cloaks for hit and run tactics.
Personally - i find the original lore much better. Not only does it explain the use of the Wild as "the muscle" much better, but it also breaks the stupid "alien-is-the-doomsday-bad-guy-with-the-godly-tech-that-for-some-reason-humans-can-still-fight"
In the disco lore, i wonder why exactly the Nomads do need the Wild anymore (now, post nomad war) - the humans are aware of the infiltration tactics (or lets just assume that the agencies are) - and the Nomads have become awesome at making godlike weapons, tougher ships - while keeping their old tactical advantaged.
But then - the original lore cut the trailer with the Nomad mega cannon .... for a good reason. (so that the Nomads are not the villains of Freelancer, but the victims agains an ever trespassing humanity that would likely repeat the errors of the past in the new sector instead of seeking real peace)
I still don't see any reason to remove them, cloaks are helping to get somewhere without being ganked on the route and that's pretty much it. I would probably agree if there was no way to counter it, but hey people, disruptors are IN GAME and they are not that expensive,
Suddenly, I like how Jinx put all the pieces together.

Aaaaand I almost stopped reading your post after this semi-paragraph. Sorry Wesker, but no. Such a statement is like stating that CM is for cowards, because players dare to counter CDs.

Ppl think pvp is irrelevant because they hang in RP circle jerking groups weather it be nomads or anything else and they are too afraid of combat.
Some people are unable to suddenly get onto so-called "PVP-whore" level. The gap in Snub PVP is too big for certain players and even if they try for thousand time the outcome is still the same - they are getting steamrolled by already experienced players, because in the time beginner becomes experienced, the experienced players are even more experienced.
I have stopped trying to be good on snubs after two years of trying, because I realized the problem doesn't lay in my person, but the fact that I need to use better PC with pro gaming mouse, which isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Stop crying and hiding behind cloaks and learn to pvp before you wander around ingame on nomads of all things lmao.
Don't be stupid, lmao.
Nobody has to get good at pvp. They only need to agree that it's a valid outcome more often than not.
Because if you join a faction like Nomads who are so limited in the way of RPing peacefully, those pew pews WILL happen, and maybe SHOULD happen a lot more often all things considered.
Simply, the people who play nomads do not fit the advantages and disadvantages of nomad Roleplay. That's why all these weird disagreements happen.
Here's the thing:
- By lore, you can't RP your own kind. You already know everything there is to know about each other.
- You're limited to your enemies, they need to be cute towards you and enjoy your RP.
- You are limited to a ***(warmth) - tentacle-named*** RP. Many do not find that attractive to play with.
- You love RP, and you want to play nomads, and want to have regular, satisfying RP.
This does not fit together much. I know this, and I know some others also do. I've told and been told by many people to not shoot at those little nomads, even though they are weird and probably our chars should be destroying them. Just so they can, maybe, enjoy their RP a little while more.
It just seems that the nomad RP is a lot more suited for the XTF kind of PVPloving.
Surely some can find lot's of lovely RP, maybe. But I doubt that's the case all the time. I've heard you myself, complaining about ganks all the time while you want to type type. Infini-cloaks wouldn't also be a reality otherwise.
The nomads are helpless, poor little things, the way they are. Not fitting this Nomad image some of the people speak of here, at all.

I'm all for a price increase to cloaks to try and deter people from using them (Up to normal prices, 120, 275, 450 mill) but it's a shame my Internet provider decided to switch as I was about to write a nice paragraph about how nomad and human cloaks are pretty much the same and can do exactly the same things making this thread pretty obsolete. I'll rewrite it later since I'm using my phone.
This tread is still quite funny though. Hilarious in fact.
Edit: I'm also all for forcing the Khara ID to use the Nomad Power cell for fuel like the wild cloaks.
Just going to point out and say that it is only fair that if a faction has such a nice perk then they should use it correctly and not abuse it. Im not judging... Just stating the obvious. It is obvious but also important to understand.
