If anything this one would possible just keep the server emptier then it is rather then promoting activity

I'm curious to the reasoning behind this one.
Yea, you both are right. This is ridiculous. This isn't a server with 200 players anymore, what are you admins thinking? Adding these changes will not help with the server activity at all. You people think that we're back in 2006-2007? No! We're in 2016. If you want to keep this server running with an average amount of players who are still interested in this game just don't bring such severe and drastic changes.
First: once we had 4 hours no logging anything. THAT was too much perhaps.
Second: that part was already changed in the new rules. Please read it all before complaining.
Third: new rules are good. Maybe some tweaking might be in order, and I'm one that defended harsher punishments for sanction for a long time. Like permaban being really permanent. In any case, para-phrasing Finn: "don't like it, there's the door." The rest of community thanks you.

Well, that's one way of keeping things "active". Continue to think like that, sooner or later you will play alone.
That doesn't help in keeping this so called community keep playing this old game.
Don't overdramatize Finn's sentence.
If you know the context to it, I am actually surprised the statement is not a lot harsher.
Furthermore, not every player lost is a real loss. Having hard sanctions and real consequences is something that could actually make this server lose its toxic atmosphere sooner or later. This could translate into a more enjoyable and friendly environment for others to thrive. Things can always be looked at from two sides.
Beyond the fact that our community needs to focus more on attracting players rather than repelling them, I wouldn't trust the current collective staff taking a "you're just an expendable cog in the machine" approach. It's all fine and all to have that policy, but how it's enforced is what matters.

The sentence it's already too dramatic to exaggerate it even more.
If everyone else thinks like Finn and also supports that sentence, then we're not on the good path here at all.
Telling something like that to a small community who offered their time to this game for so many years, is quite rude.
Also, as I said, this isn't a new game where you don't care about players leaving or returning. This is quite an old game and every other player new or old should be encouraged to continue playing it.
If we have such people who think like Finn .... I have no words.
To be honest, if Disco did not lose tons of new players (look at Penny every day), and if many players did not give up after playing for a week or two due to toxicity of the server and community, we would be a lot better off. If avoiding these losses means getting tougher on some groups of players who are responsible e.g. for such losses, I am absolutely in favour of a straight and hard approach.
Furthermore, hey. Even Admins are no angels. They also have a breaking point. And there are special types of hellish Skype channels that are most likely responsible for the anger/frustration/demotivation that created these words and this approach. It's player-made, I am almost 100 % sure.
I think I know the thought behind the words, and thus I can understand why they were said, I still disagree with them getting said. Even if justified, it's quite a bad PR for the Staff overall, instead sandwiches can be had, seriously. Same goes for the opposing side raging about "ermagerd, dictatorship". Yes, just like it has been for years, it is still a dictatorship of the Staff, but they shouldn't forget either that great power comes with great responsibility.
Can we just stop chewing on words which may or may not were exaggerative now, and focus on the real issues, like how the current ruling system may or may not be beneficial or harmful for the server and community overall? And I mean together, Staff and Community, hand in hand, listening to eachother and having conversations about conflicts of interest with constructive criticism, reason, solid basis as support for each of our own points, possible alternatives, the whole finally ending up in a consensus benefitting us all. What do you think? Do not forget, for that to work, all of you are needed.
I'll withhold judgement whether these new rules are positive or negative until I see how it plays out. For now, I'd like to say that new players need a behaviour guideline (which the old rules were better at). As others pointed out, rules that are for many players here common sense may not be that obvious to newer players. Without this, I think it will end up being more confusing.
Actually, this leads me to another suggestion. Rather often, we ended up with rule changes that punish the majority for actions of a minority. To prevent needless complications like that, the old rules could be repurposed as guidelines. While the spirit in which they were created is still enforced, they would not be enforced word by word. Those violating would receive a warning if the violation was only minor or it looks like a person didn't know better and the new sanction system for anything else.
Groups or individuals that would abuse loopholes or harm the server otherwise would then simply be punished individually.
