Nice things were happening for some of you. What the heck did you all do to become harmful to server gameplay all of a sudden so as to warrant a ban, or at least a vote?
Two word answer: "OFL channel".
Where no admin can survive, but some tried nevertheless to argue there (Garret, I think you might remember you own attempt).
The conversations were more than toxic, it ended in a lot of bad blood and of course no result.
And suddenly, those names that were there to critizise dev and admin decisions harshly ended up on the "to ban" list a few weeks later.
Thyrzul is likely the best example where "being a critic" is enough to land you on that ominous list, as I heavily doubt that he has any sanction register that might justify any action against him, furthermore his ingame activity is small enough to make anything negative rather improbable.
Or for Karst, who I cannot remember being bad to anybody on the game, and who likely has a very thin sanction folders plus actually contributed to the game by fixing hard points, and doing dev work, helping to fix the most blatant mining dev screwups, etc...
Yes, the arguments in OFL were horrible. And the words exchanged there were not okay.
As a bystander, I feel bad especially for Finn, who tried really hard but burnt out in record time.
However, it was Skype.
And: it was OFL channel.
And not all critizism launched at the staff are unjustified.

I don't think there's anything productive to be gained from this thread until the Devs break their silence. Hopefully, that would be to refine their terms now that sufficient information is present. Though, for all we know, there could already be some talking going on behind closed doors.

Dang, it's the only mod with decent playerbase nowadays, afaik. Please don't make the complexity of this issue grows big enough to be a final nail for this mod. The mistakes from both sides would barely make the victor earn anything, in the end.
For better or worse, this exact community is the last place to play Freelancer. This See Above- MT easily has the potential to kill the mod, and by extension the last Freelancer community. I hope that all involved parties are well aware of this, especially when drastic actions are involved.
Hahahah I have potential to kill the mod? You don't know me and you don't even know how many new players I have helped to find a way to earn credits, buy ships, etc ingame during my years here. Those who are banned now are the real threat. I am disgusted by how people here are against the Admin's decision and doing nothing but arguing instead of working for the mod.

Oh lords of the server, you green gods who protect us from harmful server gameplay, please hear my prayer. I humbly beseach you to accept this annoying soul @Psyentific as a replacement for one of the six that you recently cast down into the Land of the Banned. If you look deeply into his soul (posting history) you will find that he is a worthless sort who circles above like a vulture eagerly waiting for the server to die, so he can crow and gloat atop its corpse. Indeed, he has started already. Clearly, those recently banned could not be worse than this blight on the forums. If, however, your lust for souls is insatiable, I'd be perfectly okay with you simply taking this one off our forums. His grave dancing is becoming a tiring act.

Throwing incoherent accusations of that sort is less than pointless, you know. Doesn't matter how many times you repeat it, it doesn't make it true. Just because you believe in something, it doesn't make it true. You're entitled to your own opinion, but that's an opinion, not a fact. And since facts are based on evidence, I really can't see any in your post, nor can I find any evidence relevant to the bans anywhere else on this forum, only speculation, and a single post consisting of two paragraphs of generalized reasoning posted by an admin.
You see, the problem isn't just the bans, but how they were handled. I think you'll agree that any sanction based on no evidence and/or a solid argument, is invalid, unless you are prepared to set aside rules and common sense, and ban people out of the blue just because "they are a threat".
I also don't think it's wise to accuse sanctioned individuals, with no evidence or facts of any sort, it only makes you look silly, and contributes to discussions being turned into trial by forum (which I guess you are not even realizing), without the said individuals having a chance to speak for themselves. That said, if you don't mind, start talking facts and evidences, if you can't, then oh well, better keep it shut

It has been 31 pages by now. Everything has been said that can be said. Do you really think that something should have been done by now if any of this had any meaning?
