Esteemed Lord Commander,

I'll preface the fact that I'm reaching out to you with the following transcript. That should give this communication attempt a meaningful context.

I've had limited contact with Legionnaires largely due to my previous service in the Navy, though I've always found our conflict with each other redundant given how similar our aims and enemies tend to be. I understand that a great deal of both propaganda and stereotypical 'demonization' of your people has been committed over the years by both the Republic and its people. I believe that to be a primary motivation in your war on the Republic.

Nevertheless, I'm sure the only question on your mind is why I'm contacting you. The only answer I have to that is the same one I gave to your Major. I want this endless cycle of violence between us to come to an end. While fighting for a better Liberty is a noble cause, there is no point if you have no Liberty left to save by the end of all these hostilities. There are far greater threats and forces at work than either of us can fully understand.

What I'm asking of you is to simply name the grievances the Republic has caused to you for starters. And by that I don't mean just you, I mean to the Legion as a whole. By understanding the various wrongdoings on both our sides and owning up to them, we open a path to understanding. By understanding each other better we open a path to cooperating. And in cooperating, people are mutually benefited.

You're bound to ask, so I'll clear it up now. No, I was not appointed by my agency to contact you, I've done it out of my own will, I see a senseless waste of life when there's something much greater at risk. You may call me naive for setting a goal for this. My goal out of contacting you and making this effort is to end the hostilities between the Republic and the Legion and to peacefully resolve our grievances with each other without the use of weapons, but by actually talking, listening, understanding and cooperating. For that is what I believe a Democracy excels in doing.

Well then, Lord Commander. Let us talk to each other, listen and then hopefully understand how cooperation and mending of these deeply set wounds we've caused each other may be healed.

Color me surprised by the open approach of yours to the topic of the Commonwealth and its Legion.

You want to know the roots of the Legions fight against Liberty? It started when a man called Drake Thastus faced an unjust trial that would get him executed. He fled the Republic with his loyal men and the Republic sent its troops to eleminate this men.

But I think the LSF is well aware of the real happenings of the time as well, so why exactly are you asking this when you could look it up in your archives? Do you not trust the other agents?

I can relate to those roots, I myself endured a trial for the charge of treason.

However, as luck should have it I'm still here. I will say that it is one thing to read something in an archive and a completely different set of affairs to acquire a straight answer from an equally straight-forward person. I like to see things from multiple angles, that's exactly what makes me so good as an operative, but also what made me so pathetic as a naval pilot.

To put it plainly, I could never follow orders blindly, or see an enemy just because I was being told a target was one. As such, I don't truly see the Legion an enemy, more so than it is a group of disgruntled and misunderstood servicemen who have been driven to separatism. Though several of the contributing factors that led to the rise of the Legion cannot be undone, I see little in the way of reason for there to be further hostility.

We are not enemies, I support your aim to 'burn' corruption out of Liberty, but I cannot support the cost at which it comes, chiefly the invaders knocking upon the doors of the border while our forces squabble with one another. Do you honestly think that this isn't what the enemy wants? The more internal strife, the less resistance they'll face during occupation, it's simple tactics really.

What I'm contacting you for is to successfully negotiate a temporary cease-fire to start things off and to extend an offer of cooperation. If Magellan falls it's not just Liberty that faces greater risk, it's also Vespucci. It'll only be a matter of time before they find out exactly how to get there and believe me, the Gallic invasion force will be particularly eager to plant their flag in the hastily developing colony of yours.

I'm willing to make a few compromises and to have our Government not allow our forces to get in your way within the local patrol routes of yours in Magellan, Vespucci will remain as it has been, yours. In return for this, all I ask is that you direct your attention, with our forces against the current invaders across the border. This sets the ball rolling and allows for a better image of the Legion and the Commonwealth to be painted in the eyes of the people and the eyes of the Government, though you and I don't care much for the latter, it's more so for things to make it past the red-tape than anything else, really. The people will see you as less petty and more willing to compromise on an age-old vendetta to protect them instead of continue full-scale combat within the borders.

As for purging corruption, as a proper Operative, I see enemies in more than one light, especially those that dwell within our borders, under our colours. I respect your aim to end this problem, but it won't be a goal that can be accomplished at this rate. We needn't have to end up sending the men and women of service from both our sides to their deaths against each other, but rather eliminate the problem of corruption without a weapon of any sort. I believe the strongest weapon is ones eyes, ears and a recording device, or anything that can compile irrefutable evidence for the people to see.

I think that should clarify a few things for you, should you apply your intuition and a little wit to detect hidden meanings, the word-play was unintentional here and there, but you can't blame a man for mildly amusing himself.

I do see your goal of independence as possible and I do see the issues in Liberty, but to fight each other will simply not accomplish or solve either. Instead, we can do both of these things together, with a stronger and unified resolve and more importantly, a secured border which would be beneficial to both of us.

I'm beginning to feel your scorn for the Republic's armed forces day-by-day,

Dealing with invaders on the front-lines is one thing. I have managed myself in doing this. It's the same for the rogues, for the outcasts, they bully, they hurt and they kill anyone who doesn't give them what they want. To have to deal with a third, domestic set of ignorant and arrogant saps who just so happen to have access to War-vessels in the Naval Forces is just unacceptable to me.

So no, Fleet Admiral Smith, I do not trust the vast majority of my comrades or my Government for that matter, but I swore an oath to protect the Republic from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The terms of our arrangement will now change to truly stand by this oath. Will you work with me in purging corruption both within and outside the border?

If your answer is yes, I'll be in touch with both you and your respective Director of Intelligence and Special Operations. Trust me when I say you'll be doing far more critical blows to the people that deserve it with my information and internal backing by your side. I'm not going to change my colours for you, but I'll be damned if I remain silent in the face of such disgraces to the Oath.

Im surprised by the content of your later message, to say the least. I assumed this was a set up by the LSF to make the Legion put down arms and get me and my brothers in arms trialed by unfair courts and unjust judges.

This last message though reignited my interest in you. You might not want to believe it, but your thoughts resemble those of the most who found themselves under the Commonwealths banners sooner or later.

The danger that is the Gallic advance into Magellan can not be underestimated, but what are we defending if we give up the fight against a system of corruption and power games?
We might as well be the Gallic Kings slaves as those of the current Republic.

If you really mean what you say, I can offer you to meet a representative of the Commonwealths Legion to talk about all of this. Let me know if you are willing to do this.

I'll be more than glad to meet a diplomatic representative of yours, I'll come myself and unarmed, with the exception of the mounted weaponry upon my personal fighter of course.

All you need to do is inform me of a neutral location for us to meet on common and fair-ground. The Democracy that the Republic is supposed to be is a good goal, but often times this goal is undermined and even ignored by those enforcing its laws or by those people elected to lead it. Or at least those we think we've elected to lead it.

There's something to be said about a movement such as yours that focuses on bringing down criminal elements first before engaging upon the discontent you hold for the bureaucratic corporate monopoly we've become, and this thing I speak of is along the lines of respect. I firmly believe as a mentor of mine once told me, that the Universe favours those who seek Justice and Truth in all walks of life, regardless of who or why.

You seek to bring the self-entitled and abusive 'overlords' to justice and by fire if necessary and I seek to fix my home and keep my people safe. I think the best place for such a meeting will be far off of the usual patrol paths. What do you think about a meeting in low orbit of Vegreville In Alberta. No one will disturb you out there.
