Ah, what an end to a long day of bounty collecting, chaseing after criminals and foiling several taxation attempts, but a big battle in New York and surrounding areas, grouping up with the Liberty forces to persue those pesky pirates, ending with the appearence of Outcast and Hacker battleships and destroyers. I was even caught sleeping at the Cali JG by the intial return of a pirate invasion force, was actually quite funny because I was feeding the baby when I looked up and seen not one, not two not 3,4,5 or even 6 pirates pop in but about 8 all pretty intent on owning my butt, I did what any out gunned person with baby in hand would do...ran. and like any outgunned person would do, died shortly thereafter, and since have consequently learned, its hard to target and fight with one hand, baby in other and bottle under the neck, good times, good times.
Think the only spoilers of the evening was the several rules infractions that seemed to happen, the fact that people seemed to log and return not to long afterwards to thier group coms in character alts, seems few of the pirates didnt even have showable IFF's, which leads one to think they used the nuetral faction gimmick for quicker travel back to be able to re-enter the fray or maybe they just intionally have their avenging pirate characters fixed that way, who knows and I am much too lazy to do screenshots, take names and all that snazz as all in all it was still quite fun and funny.
How do the rest of you feel things went last night ? Fun, not fun ? I mean I dont want to start a flame post with names being called out and arguments and such, just interested on your takes of the situation.
i wasn t there - so i can hardly give a real comment about what happened.
from what you said ( and thats the only view i have atm ) - a few things appear fishy. - firstly, its unlikely that any pirate group drives 2 battleships into new york. - what a waste of material and crews. - new york is crawling with liberty navy forces. - sometimes there are 3 raid groups in manhatten only ( NPC ) - cruisers at the westpoint academy, battleships at the yards etc.
but thats up to perception. - who knows what they were chased out before with. ( the pirates often complain that the lawfuls chase them in cruisers and battleships - so its only human to ... have a little revenge and undocking the big ships themselves, nothing "wrong" with that from that pov )
about people re-engaging in different chars... thats a violation of the rules and can easily lead to a severe drop in popularity, cash and weapons. but its hard to proof, - come to that its hard to notice at all. - one would have to know one persons chars to proof it.
another problem is the strict focus on new york. - while everyone tries to scatter the people that sit in new york - such an invasion draws more people into it. - would have been nicer to invade california, i guess.
basicly, a big battle is fun - and thats what its all about. of course there should be something about RP when pirates invade new york in such a force ( npcs only come in daggers, bloodhounds and - in the badlands ( only ) in rogue gunships ) - but even so, - thats the point of the lawful defense.
the lawfuls had no need for all the battleships, if there wasn t a huge invasion sometimes - cause other than the warships, the lawfuls are very much superior to the pirates in new york. the lawfuls fly VHFs, HFs, LFs, cruisers, gunships, battleships. ( npc )
so, as long as it was fun - and as long as there was some sort of story about it - in advance or.... at least after the invasion... there s no problem with it. ( except for rulebreakers - but thats another issue )
has to be the 1st time ive read about a cap ship invasion into NY by pirates and no moaning involved KUDOS to you le futile.
as for the rule breakers shame on you.......
basically jinx has covered everything on this one though so yeah.
Actually some of the liberty guys where happy to see the capships, though it wrecked abit of havoc, may not have been in the best of taste in a RP sense, but I dont think I heard any of them complain about it. I think most viewed it as a challenge.
Man i had a blast last night, died a few times.. but all in all, good fun, can't say much about the battleships as my fighter can barely scratch the paint!
Gah, my connection died while we were chasing Origin...

Oh man. That was fun times. I was one of the pirates that Le'Futile was talking about. However, I didn't break the rules he was talking about seeing as how I only have a rogue and a trader account. Anyways, I died in New York and went to Cali to not break the PvP rules. In Cali, I found a couple of my pirate friends along with many other pirates. The people that killed me left New York right away so I was able to return. Me and this group of pirates went through the Cali jump gate and started killed a LSF or Police (I dont remember) and took him out right away. I think then we saw Le'Futile and took him. However, I didn't know he was nurturing a child at the time, which makes it pretty funny. We continued killing NPC's and then decided to move onto West Point. We got there and all of a sudden there was a huge Outcast Battleship. We continued to kill NPC's here. Then I believe Liberator America came in with his Battlecruiser and I think another cruiser or battleship came in. This scared most of us away. When I was escaping, I got shot down. Even though it ended in death, it was a ton of fun. Too bad people had to break the rules that night though, shame.
It's true that, lately, pirats show themselves around Manhattan more and more... I'm one of the LR who attacked the planet's surrounding 3 days ago with gunboats and fighters...
I haven't played since this and I'll come back ,so I dunno the details, but BATTLESHIPS looks quite too much... One of the problem which could occur with this is : there is few RP behind this. We see there are lots of pirats around, all go in the same group and then,... Someone say "let's attack Manhattan !" and we all follow him...
I think, at least, we could completly block Liberty's in and out, but attacking capital planet is, after thought, quite OORP, when we consider this is the most-guarded place in whole Sirius. We, pirats, should think a bit about this...
OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?
Hurk hurk hurk...
