i don't personally know, and i highly doubt i'm allowed to change them, but i think it's supposed to be some kind of contrast from the GRN. the effect looks so smokey itself is because it's using a different rendering mode; multiply instead of additive.
probably because of the whole gallic stuff using oil as well

Debating on doing more prototype engines, do I:
Make some specialised to LFs only? Finish tracer engines that I experimented with months ago? (Race engines for LFs that have a really long trail basically. Or scout engines w/e. The point is to make the contrail visible to others instead of it being clientside)
