Commodore, I have good and bad news.
I used my resources to find out more about the Jump Hole, got tons of video material of it, although the scans only indicate so much. What I can tell is that this jump hole is different from the ones before. Have some statistics on it:
The anomaly is located 16.3 K above the navigational plane, at the coordinates D/E-4/5. It is exactly above the medium white sun of New London, only 5.3 K away from the outer sun corona. The rift in space-time-continuum is pointing towards the sun. Origin unknown, destination unknown. Apparently, only nomads and wild can make use of this anomaly, as probes of any size entering the event horizon have been ripped apart by unknown forces, preventing us effectively from using the jump hole.
In order to research the potential influence of objects of different masses, including stellar bodies but also other jump holes and jump gates, we calculated the distance between the new anomaly and the following objects:
New London Sun, Medium White: 16.3 K distance to the center of the stellar body, 5.3 K distance to the corona
Dover, Gas Giant: 44.1 K distance to the center of the stellar body, 40.9 K distance to the atmosphere
New London, Terrestrial: 63.7 K distance to the center of the stellar body, 59.5 K distance to the atmosphere
Southampton Shipyards: 48.9 K distance
Kensington Shipping Platform: 45.3 K distance
Canterbury Station: 45.9 K distance
Thames Outpost: 61.8 K distance
Waterloo Station: 62.4 K distance
Cambridge Gate : 95.7 K distance
Dublin Gate: 97.3 K distance
Manchester Gate: 96.4 K distance
Newcastle Gate: 94.7 K distance
Cambridge Jump Hole: 90.7 K distance
Dublin Jump Hole: 77.3 K distance
Leeds Jump Hole: 89.6 K distance
That about the numbers. Other than the previous jump holes that showed up in the past, this one is not fluctuating. It is a stable one-way jump hole connection. This is not good, Commodore. This is a new type of jump hole anomalies. So far we only know the stable ones all around Sirius which are mostly used by smugglers and other daredevils. And then there are those jump holes which are showing up since the Cult of Technology appeared. But this jump hole isn't just a temporal anomaly, it just doesn't show any signs of degradation. Comparing it with other anomalies, both artificial and unartificial ones, one could assume this jump hole is created by a jump gate. One that doesn't need an installation on the other side of the hole. That is only an assumption, though.
Looking at the data, there are quite a few dozens of things we can assume, so further research on this is important. The more we know, the better we can counter it. The main the main hypothesis is the following: The nomads could use a gate-like installation to create jump holes to specific points all over Sirius. The position, shape and alignment of this anomaly indicates a rather precise placement of the exit. It is greatly specific above the sun of New London at the coordinates 0 - ~16300 - 0. Of course the nomads didn't adapt our navigational systems and measures, but just like us they orientate themselves with the help of cosmic bodies. Our navigational systems take the most central values of all stellar bodies of a system and creates a navigational grid along those, which is why our trade lanes are perfectly aligned to that grid. Back to the topic. Looking at the placement of the anomaly, we can assume it is intentional. Interestingly, the hole exit points towards the sun.
From what we have observed so far, only nomads and known wild individuals can use this jump hole anomaly. Asking locals for their observations showed multiple incursions originating from this anomaly, and even I can confirm that nomads have used this anomaly to enter New London, by now I was able to record it two times. So we can assume the other side of the hole is somewhere in the deeper omicrons. My first thoughts were Omicron Kappa or Omicron Delta, as those systems have been hit by similar anomalies in the past, Omicron Delta even multiple times. However, the Apahanta's drones didn't find anything in Kappa or Delta. The drones are unable to delve deeper into the nomad-controlled Omicrons because of the controlling range. No human jump gates, no human trade lanes, no remote control. Additional to that, the Omicron Minor Edge Nebula is still fu.cking with any kind of sensor array. The Apahanta is sadly still not ready to go there, and without any escort, I won't risk going there anyway. Hope you don't mind that little bit of sanity.
I placed a few camera drones all over New London, so we'll have it easier to have an eye on the anomaly. From the looks it seems the nomads don't dare to attack the planet but rather go for Kensington and Canterbury. So they realize they need a bit more to break the defensive grid of New London, which is good. If I was you, I'd advise your traders to avoid the lanes from Kensington and Southampton to New London, as they lead rather close to the anomaly's range. As far as I know, there was no public warning message from the government yet. But, well, that is your concern. They tend to be slow.
So, here a short version of the facts and the possible hypotheses:
Fact: The anomaly is on top of the New London sun, the event horizon points at the sun.
Fact: The anomaly appeared accurately above the sun without any shift on the horizontal plane.
Fact: The anomaly shows no signs of degradation we know from unstable jump holes. (// A nomad gate on the other end.)
Fact: The anomaly however is not stable enough for human ships to use it. It only allows evidentally nomad ships to use it, apparently it also allows nomad-altered human ships to use it, as they appeared together with nomads to raid New London. (// Only Nomad IDs and Wild ID can use it.)
- The anomaly is likely to be of artificial origin.
- The anomaly might be the exit point of a nomad gate or similar installation somewhere in the deeper, nomad-controlled Omicrons.
- The anomaly's location and alignment might not be randomly chosen.
- The anomaly might make some use of New London's sun. (Radiation?)
- The anomaly might be the result of experiments done by the nomads in the last six months. Looking at the other jump hole situations, there is a progress noticable.
Here is some material to think about: At the 11-26-823, a very well known Outcast called Tutashkhia used a NEMP bomb to destabilize the California Jumpgate in New York, which damaged the jump hole connection between those systems just enough to prevent the gates to open it. Or, sort of. Ships passing the event horizon never appeared in California or New York. Or anywhere else. In theory, this might work as well with those new jump holes. NEMP bombs are a rather outdated thing, but almost everyone and their mother could construct them. Theoretically, we could even do that on the Apahanta. All it takes are the resources and a reliable blueprint. I guess Bretonia has both of it and enough space to build those things, if not even better stuff. If this anomaly doesn't close itself like the others, this might be a away to close it, or at least render it useless. On the other hand, the consequences are unpredictable, at least to me and my crew. After all, this is not a normal jump hole, and it is damn close to the sun.
Which makes me hint you of possible nightmare fuel. If it is not you that uses a bomb on this thing, the other side might do it. The event horizon is pointing towards the sun. That's bad. While I can't think of human-made technology that would be able to penetrate the sun corona, the nomads are something different. We know they are fans of radiation, so they might use the sun's energy for something. On the other hand, they have a window right at it. Something like the Ish'tar might be able to fire it's long range weaponry at the sun. You know, those things have a range of 8.0 K. The jump hole is 5.3 K away from the coronasphere and the solid sphere of the sun has a radius of 2 K, which means it is only 14.3 K away from it. That's not much, Commodore.
Even worse: If they open a jump hole anomaly closer to the sun, it could affect the sun's outer spheres. Like, the only thing we can hope for is that even their physics don't allow the creation of a jump hole near massive gravitational pulls. Otherwise, they could create jump holes in planetary atmospheres or inside a sun. It might sounds like science fiction fans going crazy, but to be fair, I don't want to find out what they might be able to pull off in another six months.
I do suggest you spread the information through the proper channels, while redacting the source, to protect the asset.

Greetings Commodore
Pass along our thanks to the researchers, the information they have provided is much appreciated. I assume you have alreay told the Armed Forces about their findings, if not, I advise you do so.
We are curious however. With all the activity in New London, how does Darlington fare? If the Jump hole did not appear randomly then perhaps the cause of its arrival is next door. I would have Admiral Clark give an explanation on that, if she would be so kind. Following on from Darlington, I will send a few pilots into Drake and see what, if anything, is going on there.

Operatives and SISTER,
I advise SIS to do such communications to other Bretonian organizations in order to create a layer of extra insulation and security regarding operations, assets and information. You can deny, dissolve and ignore as fit, as opposed to a Commodore in the Armed Forces.
And as for Darlington, Commodore McKinley is the man you should be addressing regarding the Darlington Site. Be advised, with the Raven Situation in Inverness, the potential danger for infection is increased. Total rebuttal and annihilation of targets is the proper response in any situation.
On another note, I forwarded the Crown (without Parliament access) for a release of an excess of five hundred and fifty million credits (550.000.000 SC) to your organization for operational procedures and expenditures. Should be enough to cover the Gallic/Omega theatres within the next year. How is faring the new operatives training?

Rest assured the warnings will be sent in due course, although understand what others do with the information given is ultimatly up to them. We cannot and will not force action from those we have no authority over. Although if the report is only partially right then we should see some interesting activity in the next few days.
We are more interested in the station itself. It was our understanding that Admiral Clark was charged with researching how best to remove it, or is this one of Commodore McKinley's new responsibilities?
The funding will be useful in the long run, and the director wishes to extend his gratitude. Training is, as you know, slow. But they are making progress, we currently have two new agents fresh from the yard. We can arrange for them to be placed under you if you wish.
The director was also wondering about Leftenant Comander Victor Steiner and his mission. He has returned no? if he has, where is the data he was sent to get?

Operatives and SISTER,
Commodore McKinley was just assigned to the Grimsby, and as all new set of CO eyes, they will take note of everything. So in the next foreseeable future, he will be the man with the knowledge regarding the Darlington Site.
As for the operatives in training, it is impossible for me at the moment. Apart from the whole New London situation and the front, I am still preparing my dossier for my future assignment, and thus I have still not have a firm grasp on my needs regarding intelligence services.
Steiner, he is still away. Last contact, he stated that the data was still being collated. I am afraid he found himself another female persuasion. His proclivity with the fair sex is something absurd or the females are really very desperate. I leave that in your capable hands to determine.
