This appears to be a good way of faking a dynamic economy, plus would give a strong encouragement towards roleplaying in traders.
For instance, let us say we wanted to roleplay a need for Spaceship crew on several Bretonian Battleships, since they're in need of crew and fighter pilots for the front lines, and currently the Armed Forces' troop carriers are overworked. They would then hire BoWEx to carry their men safely to the battleships.
Now, this would require a patch on the mod, right? Not if the traders decided to operate at a loss with the promise of reimbursement from the Bretonian MoD, that is.
How would they get this reimbursement?
Well, there's the possibility of payment after the quota for crew or whatever has been met if, for instance we had a 'Dynamic Economy Admin'. After receiving proof that correctly tagged and IDed BoWex traders made the deliveries, they would be given large credit bonuses. Requiring that the traders have the correct IDs could encourage players to have various, roleplayed traders for the correct trade factions.
The only problem is the required admin input. Would anybody be both willing and able to do this?
I believe the idea was to award people for taking stuff where its needed. Changing prices requires a new mod version.
Unfortunately this would involve hideously over-working the admin team, which has enough to do already.
I would suggest rather that the shipping factions and other hideously wealthy groups start subsidizing the movement of RP commodities, like food to Crete, oxygen to FP11, stuff like that.
Traders are here to make money... I don't need anymore. So, I trade some RP with my trader, which allow low benefits at each run ~2M~, but fits RP...
OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?
Hurk hurk hurk...

A good alternative. Perhaps this would work too, and maybe this could be encouraged by the admin team by paying back some of the money to any faction responsible enough in this regard. This would require less editing of accounts than giving individuals bonuses.
Another possibility would be the creation of an admin for 'Dynamic' Economy purposes only.
If we limited the amount of units that were required to receive the admin-issued bonus, we could engineer actual competition between trade factions. We might actually see Universal-hired mercenaries posing as Xenos, for instance.
Limiting the time in which the deliveries must be made might work too. If for instance, the QCRF get a prize of so many million to receive so many ship hull panels at Southampton, they will either fly as Bowex or BMM for the Queen, or they will pay traders to bring in the materiel, sending out escorts to guard the incoming panel deliveries which are needed to arrive on time.
Funding something like this is much like a bloody black hole, with a large possibility of never finding the people involved if its open to everyone, as is my bounty thread right now...its just nearly impossible to find someone, from a player's perspective, so an admin would be needed...Though, if restricted to factions, and made more than worthwhile, it could seriously encourage the use of factionized traders...which might be nice...

Well, restrictions would be needed, but I think if well-planned with correctly-sized prizes, we could eliminate power-trading for a just-as-lucrative alternative with solid and enjoyable RP.
' Wrote:I'm definitely in, and I bet the GMG would be too. Sounds like a great idea, especially if it's restricted to faction traders.
Well, I wouldn't restrict it to factions, but to correctly tagged/IDed traders. Offering bonuses to military factions if enough get through in a certain time would be nice too. I reckon this can work with the correct input.
If the prizes were ONLY offered to militaries, it could encourage them to hire traders to bring in the supplies. For instance, RM might be given the prize if they receive enough light arms, but only if they pay traders to carry it, and in a certain timeframe. This could encourage them to escort the traders.
