ok, i wouldnt like to make a ship that is completely useless ( of course ) - but if only one single one was purchased and RPed with, i d be 100% happy with it. - it doesn t make me happer when i see 100 of it all the time.
i have just tested several setups. - i gave it now 16 turrets with ... lets say.... generous arcs towards he front. - i think 10 can fire foreward.
it works very well with the osiris hitbox. - the middle image shows its ingame length. - thats spacestation Corfu below. ( the barrel like structures ) the ship is placed directly above it.
maybe i should submit it with blank turrets and leave it to igiss to decide what shipclass it shall be... if he accepts it anyway.
And yeah, good point. If it sucks then no indies will buy it (not saying it sucks, but besides that, indies shouldn't even be able to get carriers, it makes no rp sence) and hell I'll gladly get one of those to fly under the Bs| tag. We already have Osiris's as it is, that thing would be a great addition.
i tested it ( only against NPC ) nomad battleships with a setup of 16 cruiserturrets and a BC powercore. - gave it 16 cerberus turrets - and it did just as well as the persephone with its 14 tertiary BB turrets. - the powerdrain was greater, but i was still able to keep up fireing quite a long time.
since i tested it in omicron kappa, i had another BB group spawning on me - and two nomad raid groups took down the shields quickly ( not like i was dodging anyway ) - the fight ended with one nomad BB destroyed and me leaving the battle with around 60% armour ( cap armour 8:P[sheesh, gotto exploit it when i give myself 1.8 billion credits hehe ] )
i do believe that the concept of 16 cruiser-turrets isn t a bad concept. ( if i had given it 4 light mortars, i d have taken the nomad BB down much more quickly ) - this concept doesn t make that ship very powerful indeed. ( a well flown osiris will take it down easily ) - but off of all battlecruisers, this one should be the most powerful, i guess - due to the fact that it has 4 more turrets.
edit: tested it with 4 gunboat turrets ( but no turret restriction - i forgot to define it ) - its a lot of fun to fire 4 "big" projectiles and see them impact for around 60k - but the BC powercore made me chainfire them non stop while regenerating haha. such a configuration might be a bit too much indeed - but it reminded me on those earth destroyers from "babylon 5" that have a pair of huge foreward cannons, too.
This ship is a perfect mach for people who want decent RP. It's indeed amazing and I'm now looking forward to seeing this in the new mod rather then an abused Dreadnaught.
Now , let's take this the long way.
The ship is indeed not something anyone would want to buy , because it's not a "kill everything" ship. Wich is indeed very good and the small number of people who would use them will be exelent RP'ers.
This ship is just what the Order needs and I'm realy surpised and amazed to see just how well Jinx understands the Order. For example the Carrier can be brought like a mobile base deep into enemy territory or into a neutral space for exploration or diplomatic matters. This makes the RP that is avalable to it HUGE!
The extra regens avalable to it will compensate for the Cruiser shield (in my opinion) and they will alow the ship to remain in a system far away from home for a longer period of time.
As far as it concerns me , the fact that it will not be able to destroy a BS in a head on fight is absolete.Having a truster will allow it to escape the BS fire and retrete to a safer position in the system.
Since I said a million times before that the Order is by far more advanced then many other factions , giving it this ship , aldo it's not a death machine , is evidence of just how much the Order is ahead of the other factions.Aldo they sacrifice armor and shied , the highly mobile and agile fighter base is better then an overhogged dread.
There is only one thing that I know will not change and it makes my fast typing RP absent.
No matter how much you type RP stories in the forum and in game , people will still just find you folowed by an atack with absolutly no RP for it. And after all the typing and so on and so on , you are killed by some guys that didn't even say why they atack you folowed by PM's to you that read "gf".
This is a clear example of the fact that ships should be RP'ed with and choosen for their RP value not there fire power.
To Jinx - Great job ( yet again ) and I'm still waiting for the file of this ship.:)
Amazing! I'm not very fond of the engine effects you gave it, though. I think it would look better if it had the "impulse" engine, like the Osiris. Gives more solidarity to the Order ship line.
