Discovery is indeed a largely roleplay oriented server however RP and PVP are directly intwined and its often hard to roleplay well if you never pvp. Most people would rather be good at pvp then very bad at it. Recently i've been getting alot of requests for pvp training and i figured i put up some notes on it here. Hope they help!
First off let me tell you that it is very much so impossible for me to simply tell you how to fight, i can explain my movments perfectly and you probably wont be able to replicate them very well. What i can tell you is how to improve yourself and what exactly makes a good pvper.
By order of importance a fighter needs:
1. Defensive ability. If you cant dodge you cant fight. Unlike aim defense isnt nesascarily based on how often you practice its about how creative you are with your practice. If you repeat the same movement over and over again you wont really learn anything. Every time you fight think of a new way to use strafes, engine kill, reverse thrust, throttle control, and your afterburner. You'll find eventually you naturally find new movments that are effective for you.
2. Aim. Trained by time, no ones a good shot at first. The only thing i can recomend about aim is that you find your own mouse sensitivity. Personally i like my sensitivty just an inch below max, and i'd recomend you have yours set above halfway because if your below that it will be hard to keep up with fast dodgers. If your ever in a situation were you know your pretty safe (ie: your behind your enemy) then a technique i use is to simply stop focusing on dodging and stare directly at the +, this makes it alot easier to place your crosshair on it.
3. Offensive Maneuvering. Flying in circles might make you hard to hit but it sure doesnt give you much of an oppurtunity to hit your opponent. The ability to move yourself into a beneficial situation (ie: getting behind your enemy) is a very important part in pvp. While you practice your defensive ability try to avoid losing your opponent in the process.
Those are the big three in PVP. The most important component to perfecting all of the above is practice and training. Whenever actions slow train with your wingmates, practice is easier in a freindly enviornment were death doesnt cost you four hours of play.
All in all if pvp is fun for you, practice it, and enjoy it!
for that matter the only people who complain about me lagging are people who fight me as AcE... maybe its just the sabre cause everyone who fights me in my Eagle/Wrath/Titan say im smooth.
edit- im on right now btw. log in and fight my eagle. i guarentee you wont do hull damage and i guarentee i wont jump.
You do lag a bit and I only fought you twice, but you are good 1vs1..
You as well as at least two other people that I can name from the top of my head (one begins with Ti*** and second with Ge****), are extremely 1vs1 focused and good in it yes.
When it comes to larger battles you all seem to be having big problems with it.
This isn't "flame symbol thread" though, so I'll stop it.
