Since more and more community veterans complain about newbies not knowing how to fight, why not adding 1 more buoy in front of planet Erie? A few examples:
1)"PvP tips and tricks!"
-Check your guns!
Thrre are two types of guns: pulse guns and hull damanging guns. Mix them for a boost in combat!
-Check your guns' stats! Each gun has a specific type of speed. Mix 600m/s with 650m/s and 700m/s with 750m/s! It may not sound important, but it drastically affects your aim! Never mix the slow speed guns with high-speed guns, or you may have difficulties to hit even a can soda.
-Be careful with your ship. There are 3 classes of ships:
Light Fighters-> Their hull is weak, but their agility is unmatched. They have a good weapon variety too. To use this class properly, NEVER sit in one place. Keep moving and stay in your enemy's back as much as possible, as this will give you a huge advantage against the Heavy Fighter and Very Heavy Fighter classes.
Heavy Fighters-> A balance between Very Heavy Fighters and Light Fighters. Their weaponry is equal to a VHF's one (except codename guns). Their agility is balanced, but their shields are rather weak. To use this class properly, try not to tank other classes, but shoot them from the sides using your thruster and the magic key "Z".
Very Heavy Fighters-> Most used class, but that doesn't mean they are the most fearsome.
Strong hull, large variety of weapons (including codename guns), and more than enough firepower. If you are a newbie in the world of PvP, a good choice would be find yourself a ship that suits you. You'd think " oh, this ship has a lot of hull! I'll put an armor upgrade on it and tank everyone!". No, that's not how it works. To use this class properly, keep moving, box the players, (bind keys for up-down-left-right and use them when staying in one place, apply on all other classes), and most importantly, be imprevisible. Your ship is rather big now, so try not to give your enemy the chance to use that.
Bombers-> This ship is used against capital ships like Crusiers and Battleships. NEVER use it against lower classes unless you are experienced enough.
SVHFs (super very heavy fighters)-> This is a class for people who want a bomber with snub guns. Recommended in fights against capital ships that somehow have snub escorts around.
-Armor! Get an armor!
Using a ship without armor is like walking naked in the North Pole. Armor can save you in extreme cases, so try to invest for one as soon as possible. Even an Armor Mk1 is enough.
-Skills, dammit!
Basics are required to play in the world of PvP, here are a few tips and tricks:
Engine Killing-> Pretty much what it sounds like. Go in thrust speed and then press Z. You'll find yourself in the thrust speed while not in need to press TAB. While at this, you have increased agility. To be more imprevisible, DON'T press W to do sudden moves too much, instead use the TAB, and you won't lose your E.K stance. (A cruise distruptor may kick you out of the stance, so always stay cautionous)
Strafing -> Left and Right while E.K-ing. It helps a lot to get in someone's back.

While I like the idea of getting new players to the basics of pvp as early as possible, it will not work by tutorial buoys. There should be a video about basic pvp on the front page, if you ask me.
Personally, I wouldn't go as deep as to explain Light and Heavy Fighters. People fly VHFs and bombers when it comes to snubs. SHFs are good for Police IDs (Smuggler interception, high dps against non-mobile targets such as transports as they can't outmove you).
If there was a tutorial section, then make it part of Conn and give it a command (/tutorial or something) to teleport there and mention it in the motd.

1. What's the point in the two buoys in front of Erie if there is no F9 text in them? Is it a test or is there some other way to use them?
2. Why is this not being implemented? There could be more commands like /hint1, /hint2, /hint3 that can be read anytime when doing boring trade runs. Seems like Laz already made it work but its still not on the server.
If you wanted to make more buoys that include help, the could be either (or both):
a. In Connecticut, because they are oorp objects and should be easier to access from anywhere. There can be a server message that tells players about /conn and the buoys.
b. Scattered around Sirius as a sort of treasure-hunt mini-quest, which teaches players about interesting places in discovery and lore. The objects could be wrecks instead of buoys, and tell a story with the prospect of some reward at the end (there doesnt actually have to be a "real" one). For example in a well visible place there is a wreck in Erie and its log book (read when scanning) tells you about an expedition that was on the verge of a great secret about the Nomads. The wreck tells you about a region of interest and the name of a ship that was sent to explore it but never returned. Then the player can go find that wreck, learn a bit more about some lore aspect, and be sent to the next wreck, etc. At the end of the quest the player will be lead to the shrine, where he or she can become a nomad (or something else semi-important).

I already suggested that in 2009 and the answer was that is was hard because of randomness of bar characters, and after they told you something they dont say it again. Don't know if thats really true though. Either way, bar chars could be added, which reveal you positions for wrecks (maybe even in exchange for credits like in vanilla).

Exactly. This would give the bar NPCs an actual reason to exist other than taking space.

My code needs to be reviewed still, and I need to make some changes. Additionally, I might need to convert it into a text box. When I made it, it was designed to be a rather simple thing that could be changed in an instant. A framework if you will.
That being said, efficiency in the code is not that common with my stuff, I repeat the same code over and over. I might end up rewriting bits anyway.

All it does is dump text on the screen.
That seems like a copy-paste job from all the other commands that dump text on the screen. Where's the difficulty? Rather than making a text box, shouldn't it be easier to just set the font larger?
EDIT:
That being said, could you please send me what you did so I can check it out?
